Blitz: William's Activism Alert for Early AM Cloture Vote!

    ALIPAC Activists:

This is our final card to play against the Senate Scamnesty Bill S. 1348.

We need you to start bright and early Thursday morning.

We need you to call, fax, and e-mail the following message like there is no tomorrow.

We need you to call, fax, and e-mail this message into every DC and District Senate office. This can help us to tip the scales in the final moments!

Here is the message we want you to send. It must reach the Senators ears before they vote! Only with a large volume of contacts will that happen.

    THE MESSAGE
    -----

"My name is ______ and I want Senator ________ to vote NO on Cloture for S. 1348. This is a terrible amnesty bill! I want Senator ____ to stop S. 1348!

If the Senator votes YES on Cloture, that is a vote for AMNESTY.

If Senator _____ votes 'YES' on cloture, I will join ALIPAC and many other organizations planning protests outside of their state offices.

I will inform other citizens of my state that Senator ______ voted to bring S 1348 to the floor of the Senate permitting it to be passed when he could have voted to kill it instead by voting 'NO' on cloture.

These Anti-Amnesty protests will take place one week after S. 1348 passes, to draw attention to each Senator that helped S. 1348 pass by voting YES on CLOTURE.

I hope Senator ______ will stand with the majority of Americans by voting NO on CLOTURE on S. 1348."

    -------

We need you to fight hard to get this message out and to follow through by joining us for protests outside of their offices if necessary.

What we are trying to do is to signal the Senators that have agreed, behind closed doors, to vote YES on Cloture and then No on the bill that this trick will not work.

We are going to alert everyone in our states that Senator X voted to pass S. 1348 into law, even if they vote against the bill on final passage.

Please show us your level of support for these protests by voting in this new survey question. If you vote in this survey, you are telling us that:

    1. You are conveying this message to the Senate offices and
    2. You will make every effort to join our teams outside the offices to protest their support for Amnesty one week after the passage of S. 1348 if need be.

    SURVEY
Will you protest outside the state Senate offices of those that vote YES on Cloture for S. 1348? (VOTE AT THIS LINK)
    http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=Surveys&pollID=46

    CONTACT INFO
Here is the list of Senators and their DC and District Offices (AT THIS LINK)
    http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?name=F ... ic&t=63874

Our mission is to stop S. 1348 and if we fail then our mission will be to stop it in the house and to alert our fellow citizens that agree with us in our home states by protesting outside of the state Senate offices.

I have been in contact with many of the other coalition leaders today, and many groups will join our protest effort if it comes to that.

    Yours in the cause,

Are there any toll free fax numbers?

What we are trying to do is to signal the Senators that have agreed, behind closed doors, to vote YES on Cloture and then No on the bill that this trick will not work.
I'm not sure I fully understand the trick. Is it Scenario 1, 2 or perhaps both?

Scenario 1: Reid says he needs 60 votes to move the bill forward and claims that he will shelve the legislation if the cloture vote fails.

Question: Can we trust this "threat" to shelve it (or is this another lie) and if he does shelve it, how long until it all starts up again?

Scenario 2: Or is the trick more sinister and complicated, along these lines:
    (a) The backers of the bill want to end discussion & debate by voting yes on cloture. This will force a final vote on the bill without giving us a chance to ever read the bill to learn the full and true content of the bill and thus we will never be able to protest the actual written provisions of a bill that no one has seen.

    (b) They claim that voting yes on cloture does not mean they support the bill or amnesty because they claim they will vote no on the bill when it comes up for a vote.

    (c) Once they have cloture and the bill comes up for a vote, some who said they would vote no will actually vote yes on the bill (probably after being paid large sums of money to buy their votes).

I don't think so because they have to go to each Senators office independently, but that would be nice!
