Breaking News on Davis Bacon Act
Lou Dobbs just announced that the White House, under tremendous pressure, has decided to rescind its decision to suspend the Davis Bacon Act in the reconstruction after Hurricane Katrina!! Just goes to show that, if we yell LOUD ENOUGH and OFTEN ENOUGH, we SOMETIMES actually get heard.

Good, good. Keep screaming people. Don't let these fakes off the hook by any means. The idiot in the White House, the Liar in Chief himself should still be impeached. One act of reversing his stupidity doesn't make up for 6 years of being an outright traitor.

Great news! Now if they'll start checking/charging/fining contractors in NO who use illegals, that would be one more small step in the right direction.

Outstanding news Bootsie!!
Congratulations Americans and those electricians are heroes for speaking up and the US Senator, Mary Landreaux (sp) did a good job making it clear this was unacceptable and of course--where would we be on this issue without Lou Dobbs.
Thanks Lou, thanks electricians, and thanks Mary!!
Scream, Holler, Stand Up, Speak Out, Don't Spend, Save, and of course:
Snap (wallet shut) and Slam (down the phone) when the Republican fund-raisers call for money.
Wickident...what a Weenie...trying to cheat our workers out of their legal wages, their expertise to train illegals, and then their jobs.
It's been a Good Week Everyone!!

It sure HAS been a good week, Judy. Things are beginning to unravel which puts the AMERICAN PEOPLE in the position of making demands that, otherwise, would have been ignored. CHEERS to Congress for waking up and putting the Wackitator/Wackident on the hot seat. What happened after I posted the news was that Lou explained how it came about. I will post the transcript but, basically, the House had enough votes to overturn Bush's waiver and, rather than be embarassed, he crumbled to their demands.

Transcript from Lou Dobbs about Davis Bacon Act:
DOBBS: The Bush administration today decided to reverse one of its anti-worker policy decisions. The president today reinstated the Davis-Bacon Act which had been suspended for contractors involved in rebuilding along the Gulf Coast. We of course want to commend the leadership of Congressman George Miller for his fight to reverse the suspension of that important labor protection law.
In addition to Congressman Miller, senators Kennedy, Landrieu and Dorgan, as well as Jesse Jackson, all joined in the fight against this assault against American middle class workers.
And finally, it seems this administration has realized the importance of paying workers involved in the reconstruction a fair wage.
Lisa Sylvester reporting from Washington.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
LISA SYLVESTER, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice over): Suspending the Davis-Bacon Act prompted companies with federal cleanup contracts in the Gulf region to bring in outside workers, some of them illegal aliens willing to work for far less than the prevailing wage. In some cases, laborers earned less than $5.50 an hour. The White House, bowing to congressional pressure, agreed to reinstate the Davis-Bacon Act as of November 8.
Democrats have roundly criticized waiving the prevailing wage provision. REP. GEORGE MILLER (D), CALIFORNIA: American workers believe that their wages should be protected. They should not be undermined by the federal government. And that's what the president and a little right ring cabal of people were trying to do.
SYLVESTER: Republicans jumped on board and sent a letter to the White House, urging the president to reinstate Davis-Bacon before a congressional vote scheduled in two weeks.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: All the Democrats were joined by 37 Republicans led by Representative LaTourette and Representative LoBiondo that were going to vote to reverse his decision. So he had no choice. He knew that the votes weren't there for him to continue to cut these people's wages.
SYLVESTER: The reinstatement will not change the wages of those already working under contract. So far, the federal government has awarded $50 million in relief contracts. But it should make the contracting process from here on out more transparent and ensure displaced workers are first in line to rebuild their communities.
REP. STEVEN LATOURETTE (R), OHIO: When you don't hire people who live in the community, they don't pay taxes to support the schools and the fire service and all the things that you want them to do. So it's really a -- you create more problems than are needed. And again, we're thankful that the administration agreed with us.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
SYLVESTER: Today's decision means contractors will have to start submitting weekly payroll information that will confirm not only the wages that the workers are being paid, but also will provide oversight to make sure taxpayer money is not wasted and only legal workers are being hired.
And by the way, Lou, we asked Congressman George Miller, "Are you concerned that companies will try to rush to get new contracts before November 8, when Davis-Bacon is back in place?" And this was Miller's response.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MILLER: No, I don't think that's going to happen. And if they did that, Lou Dobbs would kick their ass. And they would pay such a high price for that, that they would never, ever recover again from that kind of activity.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(LAUGHTER)
SYLVESTER: And that's your reputation, Lou, here in Congress, the give them hell attitude.
DOBBS: Well, I'll accept that. Quite a remarkable statement by the congressman. We appreciate it. Perhaps I might have phrased it more delicately.
Nah, we wouldn't phrase it more delicately. And good for the congressman for being straightforward. Plainspoken, we admire that here, don't we, Lisa?
SYLVESTER: We do indeed, Lou.
DOBBS: Lisa Sylvester, thank you very much."POWER TENDS TO CORRUPT AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY." Sir John Dalberg-Acton

This doesn't exactly answer your question about sending the illegals home, had_enuf, BUT it does call for more oversight so MAYBE that would include actually checking Social Security numbers?? NAW--that would offend Bush's best AMIGO AND, don't forget, Bush PROMISED him that they would waive the documentation requirement.
We will just have to continue to SCREAM and demand that ONLY residents of the area be given those jobs. There should be absolutely NO NEED for any illegals because the poor people of New Orleans are desperate for work. AND, NOT at $5.50 AN HOUR."POWER TENDS TO CORRUPT AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY." Sir John Dalberg-Acton

When they can't get work in New Orleans, they'll hit the road and show up in a neighborhood near you.
THAT's when you call ICE and send them home.
The Wackident promised on national television at a live press conference with millions of witnesses:
"If you are an illegal immigrant, we will find you and send you home."
AND, that's ONE PROMISE the Wackident is going to have to keep or go to jail for making false statements to the American Public while on Duty which requires telling the Truth. Otherwise, this would be a deception to Obstruct Justice with regards to criminal investigations and enforcement of US Immigration and US Labor Laws.
AND, I've got a Fresh Bucket of Tomatoes ready to go for Public Viewing Days at his Slammer Facility!!
Splatt!! Splatt!!
(Oh yes. If he doesn't follow-through on this promise then it will have been a fraud, a deceptive act, to obstruct justice. AND we know how those federal prosecutors LOVE Obstruction of Justice Charges.)

Lame Duck Jorge is going down fast. That's two big hits he took in two days. First this then Bush's crony, that non-entity, that David Souter in sheeps clothing had to withdraw her nomination. Quack, Quack, Quack goes the Jorge Duck and Flush, Flush, Flush go his poll numbers right down the tiolet. Bush's impeachment is fastly coming ahead. Soon the stupid party will have to realize that the longer they keep this lame duck swimming in this pond the further their poll ratings go flushing down the hopper and the more likely they will be thrown out of office on election day next year.
LAME LAME DUCKY YOUR NOT THE ONE
YOU MAKE BATH TIME NO MORE FUN
SOON THE STUPID PARTY WILL BE DONE
THE AUTHORITIES HAVE JORGE AND HIS CRONIES ON THE RUN
ALL TOGETHER NOW!!!

You know what's amazing to me? It's how fast Bush and his cronies swooped in on that Katrina mess, making it a deportation free zone (in other words come one come all) while simultaneously suspending the Davis Bacon act-- I mean they just moved at lightning speed trying to get the place flooded with illegals. I could not believe my eyes and ears! Even the dummy mayor of NO saw this and remarked--and of course the administration played the Race Card, which shut the mayor up fast. Man talk about turning the tables.
Did you all see Bush Sr and Clinton's joint discussion on the aftermath of Katrina? When talking about all the crime and looting and criminal behaviour, Clinton made some very odd statements--talking about how he's convinced that the key to dismantling this criminal culture was to break up these "poor nieghborhoods" so they could be around "role models." Clinton said "I've always believed that's the answer."
Then I heard Bush make some statements about how NO was going to be a completely different place after the clean-up and it sure sounded to me like he was implying that it was going to be racially different.
Am I the only one who noticed these things?
