Page of the NY Times or on the lead story of the major news networks.
The protestors put up the Mexican flag over the American flag flying upside down at Montebello High School in California ..

Typical behaviour from ungrateful and disrespectful people.idiots.

Immigration status should be ascertained of every single student and their parents in that school as well as gang affiliations.

U.S. tax-payers provide federal funding to American schools--we don't have any obligation to support foreign schools do we?

If it wasn't for you I would have thought these were recent pictures...

Either way, I agree, this type of behavior is inappropriate and disrespectful to my country. But when I was in school I knew kids like these and as a mature adult now (compared to when I was in high school; at the time I thought nothing much of it) I have a better understanding of why they did what they did. Immaturity and group dynamics. They felt they belonged to a group that was being attacked, according to them, by the US government and the racists Americans. Kids being kids who are not informed about current events or politics spread this sentiment among their fellow peers and they all started joining hands promoting the cause. What better symbol to represent their group then the Mexican flag, the flag of the country in which their parents/ancestors were born. And kids being kids, you cannot reason with them or explain to them without being labeled as either a party pooper or racist.

Little did they know that the federal government was on their side, but again, kids nowadays are just uninformed about politics and simply want to party or watch their MTV. America was not the enemy, America was trying to pass comprehensive reform, so leave the flag alone.

You got the area in bold correct. This is why industry is saying they need the H-1B visas. As Newt Gingrich said this morning on C-Span, we are dealing with a broken government AND a broken culture. When you have a broken culture that is so misinformed and they want expensive sneakers and new ipods instead of uniforms so they could go to school, Oprah Winfrey took her money to Africa to help those children. She wouldn't reward USA kids who only wanted the before mentioned items. She got sick of going to inner city schools to see how she could help there and when she asked the kids what they needed, it was the sneakers and ipods, not an education. They end up being their own worst enemy. When was the last time you saw a peer group say to young people let's get an education, start a business and make it on our own. Let's work and not ask for handouts? The culture of victimology and big daddy have taken over. It's not look what I can achieve by hard work, I'll tell you what you OWE me.
