So does Google know the originating IP address, for every search ever done?

    --------------------------

Would anyone be interested in an obscene T-shirt with V.Fox and G. Bush on it? I have a few design ideas so far.

dman, those coincidences are somehow getting a little too coincidental, aren't they?

phoenix ashes, I think that is the deal--they want google to turn over that information. And without a subpoena and a reason for wanting the information, google isn't required to do so. See?

Bin Ladens back after one year of silence? I don't buy it. A guy like that if he's alive and well isn't going to stay quiet for one whole day, let alone one whole year. I think this whole thing is fishy. Everytime people get upset at Bush and his poll numbers are in the toilet, this chump trumps up Bin Laden and acts like he's going to bring the apocolypse if we don't rally behind Bush and give in to what he wants. Is it any coincidence that this tape came up just a mere two weeks before the Patriot Act expires again? Talk about perfect timing for the gullible sheeple to get behind Bush to renew the Patriot Act so he can go about spying on more American citizens without as much as a wimper. Alot of people tell me they don't care if Bush spies on them because they have nothing to hide. Well you better care because what if this government hates you and wants to pin some BS on you to make you disappear. Don't think it couldn't happen? Think again. They already have the power to withhold US citizens indefinitely if they even have the slightest suspicion that you are doing something illegal.

I think Bin Laden is dead and has been dead for years. I don't care what the CIA thinks, I think this tape like all others is a fake. I really wish someone would launch an investigation as to what is really going on here.
I totally agree with you. It looks really fishy that the senate is going to come up with their own version of what to do about the border too. And that is supposed to be voted on in February.
Their plan is to instill FEAR into every American citizen by making us believe that THEY are protecting us. I am not afraid of Bin Laden. I am afraid of Bush and his administration, every last one of them, pulling our country into the sewer. Everytime they want to DISTRACT us from whats really going on in our country, they pull the (Bin Laden)RABBIT OUT OF THE HAT TRICK! BUSH, GONZALES, AND CHENEY NEED TO BE IMPEACHED! They are worthless.

I agree with ALMOST everything EXCEPT I think bin Laden is still alive. Other than that, it does sound just TOO COINCIDENTAL that the tape comes out at THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME for several upcoming events, doesn't it??

Sever logs can and usually are set up to record the ISP number of any on-line computer entering that server.

The feds have not mentioned child porn in this issue. They are trying to determine how easy and common it is for sub-adults to reach adult-oriented Web sites.

There is VERY VERY little child porn on the "regular" Web, anyway.

It is too easy to track the "owner" of a Web site. Easy target. Even if on a foreign-to-the-USA server the feds can and will notify law enforcement in that country.

Try it..... use a search engine to look for kiddy porn!!!! Remember, a site showing clothed kids and that does not zoom in on certain body areas is not considered porn of any type.

The kiddy porn is even rare on the UseNet newsgroups since law enforcement has perfected tracking techniques.

Seven years ago and more true kiddy porn was easily found, even if you were not seeking it. Over time, the filth has become hard to find.

Nowadays, those who want the stuff use regular communication channels to find each other then share via e-mail, peer-to-peer networking, etc. and typically, encryption is used to keep outsiders from seeing the stuff.

What is strange is that the feds could have stopped the problem to a gret extent by requiring all adult-oriented sites to only use the .xxx suffix.

Software could be easily developed to prevent any Web site with the .xxx suffix from displaying on a computer.

What I fear is that this attempt by the feds to garner data about the Web and its users is the first step towards reducing the common people's attempt and efforts to organize. The elite class FEARS our ability to muster our forces. In days of old only the wealthy could communicate in a manner us commoners do now.

Consider this: with the way the mass media so often does NOT mention illegal invaders, how aware would those outside certain geographical areas be regarding the extent of the invasion?

Then, without the Web how would we gather to voice our concerns, to present a mass of citizens to those in authority?

The elites and others in positions of power despise our ability to band together, to share info, to voice our concerns. Without the Web to assist us imagine how much further along the invasion would be,

Also, there IS a growing number of people mumbling about certain radical changes necessary to save our country and culture. Without the Web the possibility of amassing enough citizens to create a plausible threat to the elites is nil.

Thus, expect to witness an attempt to curtail the common folks from using the Web at some point in the future.

I was just listening to Hardball with Chris Matthews and he is getting ready to interview someone about the Department of Defense having a spying operation on POLITICAL OPPOSITION. THIS is the type of spying that concerns me.

It's beginning to sound to me like the DOD actually IS part of the opposition as it applies to Bush if you ask me.

    YOU NAILED IT OBBOP!
Bush wants ABSOLUTE CONTROL of the government and the people. He will stoop to any means of doing so. The spying going on with the NSA shouldnt shock anyone. And its no surprise he wants to collect private emails collected by Google.
BUSH has been MAKING UP TERRORISTS THREATS ever since 9/11. If he goes down in ratings, bring up Osama. If they want to STEER away from the illegal immigration issues, TELL THE PEOPLE IRAN IS GOING TO MURDER US ALL! That way he can sneak his PREPOSTERIOUS GUEST-WORKER PROGAM right inbetween other bills that have yes votes.
If he really wants to know how the majority of Americans feel, let him invite some 'REGULAR FOLKS' to his CLOSED & STAGED MEETINGS!
