I called Bean's office. They tried to sell me that CAFTA will reduce illegal immigration line.

I said then why is every organization opposed to illegal immigration opposing CAFTA?

Then I pointed out that the Bush administration was trying to sell that line becuase they know that concerns over illegal immigration are holding CAFTA back!

Then I asked, how many trillions of dollars of wealth transfer from the US to these countries would it take to even begin bringing them close to 1st world levels? Ridiculous! Then I laugh!

I pointed out the Dobbs poll and told the assistant to make sure that Representative Bean knows that by November 2006 the CAFTA and NAFTA trade agreements will be right next to the illegal immigration issue as a causitive agent.

Id focus on the Declined to answer, Undecided, Leaning No, and Leaning YES on this list

    http://www.thelibertycommittee.org/caftavotecount.htm

Or our list at the top of the News Articles threads.

Together we can work them over really good. If someone gives you a status that should be changed let us know.

When they tell you they are undecided that probably means they are voting yes.
When they were voting for NAFTA, I knew a year before that it would be bad for the country, yet the day before the vote Rick Santorum was undecided. He comes from a district that lost a lot of jobs and I think he was making sure they had enough yes votes so he could vote no and not be in trouble with his constituents.

How long have we known CAFTA is a bad Trade Deal and would undermine our sovereignty. Are any of us undecided?

Just got done calling my Rep. Murphy and he is undecided.

He is a good guy but VP Cheney was in Pgh. this week raising funds for him. Take it from there.

    Still Calling

Staff Aides will listen but if you tell them you are calling from another State (NC) or District their interest falls right off and seems they care not to pass on your word to the Congressmen.

I tell them its a National issue, that I'm a U.S. Citizen and they are a U.S. Congressman---still there is conflict and disinterest.

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

    --------
In a call to Congressmen Vernon Ehlers (MI) - undecided. I got the actual Mr. Ehlers on the line---and he listened to why he should vote NO. This was good and rare.

Bad note --Congresseman Tom Feeney's (FL) office said that he is voting
    YES.
This Staff aide was cold-shouldered and more so when I told
him I was out of State.
Thanks Mr. feeney for hurting Americans and the U.S.

I'm listening to Rep Harold Ford from Tennessee on C-Span now and he just strongly announced that he would vote "no", even though he was listed as "undecided" on the CAFTA vote count.
    http://www.thelibertycommittee.org/caftavotecount.htm

By the way, Ford voted for the Singapore FTA in 2003. So, that's encouraging when people who've voted for FTA's in the past have decided to vote no on CAFTA.

JP can you adjust our list for Ford for us?

Darlene, I called your Rep and the CAFTA person in the office was in with the Congressman so I left a message with a young exhausted staffer and asked her to carry it into their meeting.

I tell ya, when the Dems get off their special interest groups mess and go back to their old economic platforms they really start sounding much better to me.

I wonder how much support the Dems are picking up by standing up against Reps pushing an agenda supported by very few in the general public.?
