Congressional Investigation or Impeachment Hearing for Bush?

    Friends of ALIPAC:

The question has been raised several times about either Congressional investigations or impeachment proceedings against George Bush for his actions and in-actions regarding illegal immigration.

Our organization has not taken such a stand, but perhaps it is time to give these matters deeper consideration now that the Bush administration and the elite financial influences that have such sway over the Senate are about to attempt an amnesty for over 10 million illegal aliens they let into the country in the first place.

If our organization and many others called for hearings or impeachment then the press would take a high level of interest in the event. It would send a very loud message to Bush prior to the Guest Worker votes.

If we were to support such a resolution, it would need to be supported by a strong majority of ALIPAC supporters and allied organizations.

It would read something like... (not actual wording, just an example)

Whereas, the US Border Patrol has been ordered to only catch and release illegal aliens crossing our Southern border and..

Whereas, the executive branch has ordered that almost all fines against employers for hiring illegal labor be suspended and...

Whereas, America's borders have been left open and exposed during a time of war and...

Whereas, monetary interests are exerting their influence to establish an amnesty Guest Worker program that is not supported by the public...

Whereas, these policies and considerations have led to massive illegal immigration unprecedented in America's modern history and..

Whereas, protection from invasion is enumerated in the Constitution and...

Therefore resolved ... Immediate Congressional Hearings... and or Immediate impeachment proceedings... George Bush...

I voted on the first line, to both call for investigation and to impeach the Prez! It's about time he was kicked out of office! Shame we cannot also call a vote on Mexico Prez. Fox since he seems to stick his nose in US business all the time.

I would support the investigation and impeachment of President Bush only if it is stated that the reason is for not protecting our borders and the trashing of our Constitution by signing a agreement with Paul Martin of Canada and Vicente Fox of Mexico to do away with our borders.

Something that makes it clear this is not about Iraq or his out of control spending, but the illegal immigration issue only and purposely not defending our borders, knowingly letting a foreign power silently invade us and doing nothing about it.

Well, I'm not an expert on impeachment. I think if you are going to charge someone, you need the formal legal argument(s) to back it up.

I understand the general malfeasance thing in regards to immigration. He's definately an OB guy...he basically said it in his State of the Union speech a year or two ago.

Is that an impeachable offense in the legal sense? That's a question for legal scholars.

If the actual legal arguments are sound and based on fact, then making the charge is reasonable.

Yelling impeachment is like yelling FIRE....there better be a fire.

Well, I certainly don't qualify as a legal whiz, but from the US Constitution the President must:

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
    Article II, Section 4:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

I believe that Bush has done this entire nation great harm by refusing to seal the borders when is it an established fact that in excess of one million illegal immigrants enter our country each year.

While there are many issues and literally thousands of people screaming for impeachment, I don't know of any of the other issues that are, in reality, impeachable offenses.

The Senate voted for the Patriot Act without reading it and, if the President is impeached for that, the entire Senate must be removed from office as well. The Patriot Act is the springboard for wire taps.

The war was also supported by Congress and the same rule of thumb applies there. Whether or not the President deliberately lied or not would be impossible to prove so impeachment on those grounds is a moot point.

To me, the only valid reason for impeachment proceedings that would tie up the government for months is the issue of the wide open borders that the President is relied upon to protect and has not done. At the same time, Clinton, Bush Sr. and every single president all the way back to Reagan was impeachable for the same reason.

Therefore, my answer is "other" even though I believe that we need to do whatever we can to curtail his blatant disrespect for the people who voted him into office, even impeachment, which will not guarantee his removal from office. Other, meaning, in my case, impeachment on this single issue.

It is his consititutional duty to protect the borders, and he is further bound to the duty of enforcing statutory laws regulating immigration. He has blatantly failed to to either. While prior Presidents have similarly failed to enforce law, we had not yet suffered a major terrorist attack within our border, i.e. 9/11. For this President to continue to ignore the law, and the rule of law, after such an event is much more serious than the failures and offenses of Clinton, Bush Sr, et al. At minimum, a Congressional investigation should be called for, but I believe having a bill of impeachment tossed into the House bill hopper would certainly expedite the process of investigation.

I picked "Other", because investigations should occur, but a Congressional investigation would be allowed to be a showcase of all the Dem. slobs to rhetoric about nothing.

Impeach him for the border? We could have impeached the last 4 presidents for that.

Removing, or entangling him with impeachment will only hinder the "real" war effort. Some of his critics speak in unison with Al Qaeda propagandists.

Even if you impeached him over the border issue, it would be framed as something else, and NOTHING would be done about the border.

See Hillary win the next election anyway, an impeachment would accomplish nothing, except maybe allow Condi to get whipped by Hillary.

Getting an impeachment to highlight the border? I don't think that it will happen, even if nuke detonates in Dallas.
