Generally it means Gross Domestic Product, all the goods and services that are produced in the USA. Illegal aliens only account for about 2% of US GDP.

If so, that doesn't tell us anything about the health of the country, does it?

GDP itself tells little about the health of a nation.

Example: Mexico has the 11th highest GDP in the world. Its possible the GDP could soar even with the destruction of the middle-class.....Lots of wealth, just concentrated in the hands of the few......Just like Mexico......Our oligarchs are emulating Mexican oligarchs. I get sick of hearing how strong the GDP is.....And "low unemployment" for that matter. I believe communist countries had "low unemployment" as did fuedalistic societies......

I think it would be great if they did an episode of the Simpsons on illegal immigration.....Homer and his friends would lose their jobs at the power plant to illegals making $5 an hour. Burns would lobby that mayor, pay him off, declare Springfeild a sanctuary city. The dumb cop could look the other way on illegals at day laborer sites. The illegals could buy a ton of beer ar the Quickie Mart before starting work. Bart would be listening to his teacher in Spanish.......The possibilities are endless for a show like this!
