Chicago street vendors will complain to City Hall
Illegal street vendors will throw a hissy fit in City Hall. They don't like the law.

FIGHTING FOR LICENSES AND RESPECT
Little Village street vendors to protest $800 ticket at City HallWednesday
This Wednesday at 12:30 street vendor are going to protest at City Hall, moreas 15 tickets has been giving to them at 26 street and 30 vendors from 47thstreet has been threaten to ticketing if they continues selling.
Little Village street vendors and Back of the Yards vendors arepushing for the authorities to the misery with high tickets over 500 dollarsfor want the chance to bring bread to the table.
They are going to tell their own histories alongwith other street vendors from the Little Village and Back of the Yards areaswho plan a Street Vendors Association' news conference to express theirconcerns about the attitude of the city of Chicago toward their work. Theirconference is set for 12:30 pm. Wednesday, July 9, in front of the City Hall of Chicago.
Executives of the Vendors Association are going to talk about the irregularconditions that the Street Vendors confront every day without a city ordinanceto protect their activities.

The food trucks downtown Los Angeles threw a fit too. Don't know how that turned out. It boils down to ...if they want to do it they think they should be able to. Heck with laws or anyone else.

Geeeez I thought this practice went out with in the early 20th century....except at fairs etc.

It's not unsafe if the carts are up to code. They have to have running water to wash their hands and maintain temperature controls, etc. NYC has plenty of carts on the street.

Anyone who has been to Chicago or New York and eaten a hot dog from a street vendor do so because of the permits and licensees they must have from the city to make sure they’re up to code and keeping food safe. Now these yahoos think they can simply come in and set up shop without going through the proper channels and not think they’re going to get punished for following the law….I feel no pity for them because they got tickets....
