Conway resumes Romney opposition, says Trump loyalists feel 'betrayed'

Conway resumes Romney opposition, says Trump loyalists feel 'betrayed'

    Published November 27, 2016 FoxNews.com

Conway on Trump's 'unconventional presidency' with the press

While President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team huddle privately to pick their administration’s secretary of state, top adviser Kellyanne Conway on Sunday made a repeated, public case against deciding on Mitt Romney.

Conway says she will support whomever the Republican picks, but continues to argue that the grass-roots supporters who backed his improbable victory feel let down about Romney, considering he called Trump a “con man” and a “phony.”

"People feel betrayed to think that … Romney, who went out of his way to question the character and the intellect and the integrity of Donald Trump … would be given the most significant Cabinet post of all,” Conway said on NBC's "Meet the Press.”

Trump and his team of advisers appear to be split on whether Trump should pick Romney, a former GOP presidential nominee, or former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, an early Trump loyalist.

Incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus on “Fox News Sunday” downplayed rumors over vicious infighting over who will lead the State Department, saying that Trump's "going to make the best decision for the American people.”

However, Conway, openly talking outside the confines of transition headquarters in New York’s Trump Tower, suggests a clear divide.

“We don't even know if (Romney) voted for Donald Trump,” Conway said in a separate interview Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “He and his consultants were nothing but awful to Donald Trump for a year … "I'm all for party unity. But I'm not sure we have to pay for that with the secretary of state position. I think there are concerns that those of us that are loyal have, and we want a secretary of state who's loyal to the president."

This is not the first time that Conway, who emerged late in the White House race to lead the Trump campaign to victory, has made her thoughts known about Romney.

On Thursday, she tweeted: “Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney. Some Trump loyalists warn against Romney as sec of state.”

On Sunday, Conway, now a senior adviser for the Trump transition team, said on Twitter that she has privately expressed her thoughts to Trump and that she’ll respect his decision. However, the larger “point is the volume & intensity of grass-roots resistance to Romney is breathtaking,” she also tweeted.

KellyAnne is going after Romney in a big way. Makes one wonder what they may have found out about him besides his past efforts to slander and hurt Donald Trump during the election. Ryan and Romney are not to be trusted where Donald Trump is concerned.

Mitt Romney needs no part of the Trump administration.

Exactly right, GeorgiaPeach!! Good for Kellyanne for speaking publicly about Romney. Romney is a no win on all levels. He didn't even know how to act in London during the Olympic Games, remember that? We don't need a chief diplomat who has no manners while in foreign countries.

Romney is a snob and full of himself part of the problems we already have in Washington D.C. A problem we need to get rid of. He cares nothing about the American people never has.

Mitt Romney did much more than just bad mouth Donald Trump during the 2016 General Election. Mitt Romney and Bill Kristol backed an independent candidate for President in Utah named Evan McMullin (CLICK FOR MORE INFO) in an effort to deprive Trump of 8 Electoral votes and throw the race to Congress or Clinton!

At one point they even had a poll claiming that the traditionally Republican state of Utah was going to Romney's vote spoiler McMullin. ALIPAC even took specific actions to warn you all about this Romney, Kristol, Bush faction, McMullin plot!

We don't need someone like Mitt Romney doing crazy things like what he did with the CIA Spook, McMullin, to try to overturn the will of the American People going on a road show around the world as Secretary of State promoting democracy. What a joke that would be!! Oh lookey here at US, lookey here at me, I meself tried to influence the outcome of an election in the United States using a CIA spook! What kind of trust or respect would that render in foreign affairs??!! The same as it rendered him here, ZERO!!!

Video of KellyAnne Conway From Sunday show.

She mentions Evan McMullin and asks the question, Do we even know who Romney voted for in the Presidential race?

I guess I am going to be the dissenter here. Don't politicians typically say a lot of stuff while campaigning that they never do, or that they have to retract or, at least, minimalize later?

Seems like some of the Trump appointments so far have just been right wing Republican operatives who were waiting in the wings for their opportunity. Like this De Vos lady; What are they going to do, pull all of the "good kids" out of public school, so that we end up with a split down the middle of education, too?

Trump ran on a populist platform. I'm at least supportive enough of the GOP that I don't want to see them blow their advantages again!
