Conway says Trump forming 'tremendously conservative' cabinet, looks to work with Manchin

Senior Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" the president-elect is forming a "tremendously conservative and sharp cabinet" while continuing to hold meetings at Trump Tower in New York with members of Congress and even rapper Kanye West.

Conway described the choice to nominate Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson for secretary of state, as "a very Trumpian pick."

"The president-elect told me just today that when he met Rex Tillerson, they clicked immediately," she told Carlson. "I'm not surprised, they're both very successful accomplished people who employ tens of thousands of individuals, and that he just felt that he was in a very special league, someone who can negotiate deals, someone who already has relationships across the globe."

"Somebody, who frankly, has told Vladimir Putin, no," she added.

Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia who was in the running for secretary of energy, is someone Conway described as "very helpful and welcoming" to the president-elect and "not in the Democratic orthodoxy."

"We think we can rely upon him as a critical vote for some of these common-sense reforms that the president-elect has said he will put forward in the first 100 days," she said.

This isn't "business as usual", this isn't "same o, same o," this isn't the "status quo", this is doing things a different way with different types of people who have better skill sets, experience and competency than what we've had in years past.
