They are political refugees. That is what is different.

Really? I had no idea it was that easy for them. What if they have a criminal past? That just doesn't make sense to me, that they are exempt from all the procedures that every other immigrant is supposed to go through. Ofcourse they claim allegiance to the U.S.--- all they have to do is step on our soil and they are welcomed. That does make me wonder about all of the people that don't have papers down there. I guess everyone on here will say they are Mexican

It doesn't matter what you or anyone else thinks about it. They are legal as refugees once their claim is approved.

Due to the current government in Cuba and restrictions on Freedom of Speech and Democracy they are considered refugees. Mexico does not have these restrictions so Mexicans don't qualify.

However with how excited Illegal Alien Mexicans are about Socialism they should really consider going to "El Cuba" instead of "El Norte". I don't think the Cubans would put up with them though. If a Mexican commited a crime in Cuba they would be in a horrible jail for a long time Guilty until proven Innocent. And no welfare checks or food stamps.

That's exactly how it is in Mexico, so, No, I don't think they will be changing their destination from El Norte to Cuba.

I know Cuban-Americans and they say that in Cuba people can't bribe their way out of legal trouble like in Mexico. In fact it gets them in more trouble for trying to bribe.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you; I am Cuban and I came legally and had to go through every thing any other legal immigrant had to go through, including waiting over 4 years to get our visas.

Well, if the truth were to be known, probably some stand with us and some are FOR SURE out there protesting.

But you know what ? Personally, I do NOT CARE HOW they feel or what they want to happen here. I care about the will of the American people.
Anyone out there protesting who is here legally has failed to assimilate and does not understand the importance of upholding our laws. They do not truly love America and they certainly do not have one bit of respect for the American people.

The bottom line is that I just don't care how ANY hyphenated American feels regarding this issue. They need to try to see join in and become an American. It's in the best interest of this country and their children's future as well.

As I mentioned the other day, they could call these protests the March of the Unassimilated. In many ways that's what it is.

That doesn't mean that I expect it to be easy for new people coming to America. I do understand that they cannot throw away their previous life or not care about their old country.

I understand that learning English may be hard for them. I understand that assimilation takes time, but it also takes EFFORT. When I see someone new to our country who is trying to assimilate I see them as an American brother or sister. I see it as my job to reach out to them and to do my best to help them.

President Bush talks about being a "welcoming country". That's EXACTLY what we want to be. BUT it works TWO ways. It's not a one way street.
The truth is, he doesn't care about really being welcoming or not, he cares about cheap labor. If all of a sudden the cheap labor was DEMANDING higher pay and more from corporate America for the American people , he'd have a completely opposite view to all of this.

They would be on their way home.

    LegalUsCitizen,
    I absolutely agree with you.
