Do you have a dream, or are your dreams nightmares?

MLK was not alone. You and the multi-millions of Americans had a dream or have dreams. That’s nothing new.

Some people blame food they ate for their far-out dreams. Others take them in stride, often forgetting them when getting out of bed.

Some dreams come true. Blood, sweat and tears, along with plenty of hard work bring these dreams to fruition.

A year or so ago, as occurs frequently, someone in Washington had a dream, a plan to offer permanent legal status to illegal immigrants who meet certain requirements. One is that they complete two years of college.

Any parent knows that college is not cheap. Where will the funds come from for an estimated 1.04 million illegal immigrants to attend college, mainly public institutions and community colleges?

It will come from U.S. taxpayers, to the tune of $6.2 billion a year. That doesn’t include other forms of financial assistance they may receive.

Children of Americans encounter difficulties seeking financial aid for college. It depends on nationality, race, sex and parental income.

Officials say funds are there for college students, but don’t bet on them, particularly if you seek some for your children.

That dream, or nightmare, out of Washington is known as the DREAM Act. It has not passed Congressional approval yet, if research is correct.

Who knows what will occur as the presidential election draws closer.

Someone said President Obama has used an executive order to get the DREAM Act on the books. Others say this is false.

Could it be true? Where there is smoke, there is fire, some intelligent speaker said many years ago.

Times and people have changed, but not that much.
