    I'll shorten and make the changes using the word "features."

    The article features Boye, Mexico, population 900.

    Years ago in high school when taking a typing course, it wasn't the number of words so much that count but the length. Example, "He said" would be considered one word. Another example, "showcase" would be considered one word too. Another longer word might be considered as two words. Oh, well. Live and learn and I don't know how these computer programs tally up the count but I think they consider the words "a" or "the" one word along with words with many more letters. I'm confused.

    It's amazing how much can be cut when needed. This won't be the last letter on the topic I submit as "letter to the editor."

    Thanks, all of you for rewriting my letter. Just kidding. I appreciate the feedback but I'm sometimes a wise a**. :P

    You've got me puzzling over your letter. I found another place that could be shortened:
    the picture is bleak. If these continue, America is on its way to becoming a third world economy.
    This could be written as "the picture's bleak. If this continues, America will become a third world economy."
