ANOTHER CRAZY CHAPTER IN THE CONGRESSIONAL FOLLIES – A NATIONAL PARK…WHERE?

A wildly out-of-control ObamaCare is collapsing and threatening to bury the country in chaos and debt… Efforts at immigration reform could forever change the cultural landscape of America… The Second Amendment is under continuing attack by control-freakish gun grabbers… Slippery IRS officials run amok among investigative committees… Student loans, the farm bill, not to mention the runaway federal deficit and debt….
You get the picture – there are many, many significant and critical issues that deserve the serious attention of every member of Congress. And yet…and yet….
Two House Democrats want to take precious legislative time to consider setting up a national park on the moon. You read it right – A NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK ON THE SURFACE OF THE MOON! Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant and oh so necessary.
The bill from Reps. Donna Edwards (D-MD) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) would create the Apollo Lunar Landing Sites National Historical Park to mark where the Apollo missions touched down between 1969 and 1972.. The park would be comprised of all artifacts left on the surface of the moon from the Apollo 11 through 17 missions.
The bill says these sites need to be protected because of the anticipated increase in commercial moon landings in the future. And just who, exactly, is planning to set up shop on the lunar surface any time soon?
It’s almost too easy a shot to take at the Edwards-Johnson Apollo Lunar Landing Legacy Act, H.R. 2617 - to say that this fluffy, far-out piece of legislation is absolute LUNACY!
