FORMER CIA OFFICER: ‘A LOT OF COMMUNICATION’ BETWEEN ISIS, MEXICAN CARTELS

Listen to interview at the link

    on BREITBART TV 21 Aug 2014, 8:03 AM PDT 204POST A COMMENT
Former CIA covert operations officer Mike Baker said that he believes there is “a lot of communication” between ISIS and Mexican drug cartels given past efforts by al Qaeda to do likewise on Thursday’s “Laura Ingraham Show.”

“We’ve had good intel over the years about al Qaeda, about their efforts to coordinate with, as an example, Mexican cartels...in an effort to try to exploit our southern border” he reported, adding that a terrorist group like ISIS “absolutely” knows about the lack of security on the border.

Baker stated he believes there is “a lot of communication” between ISIS and drug cartels. And “the cartels are a business ... if there’s a revenue stream they can exploit, then they will, and the extremists understand that.”

Blowback in Iraq: How U.S. Proxy Wars Led to the Rise of ISIS

    Politics
    By: Joshua Cook Aug 13, 2014 13

“It's difficult to produce a single example in modern history of a strategy of arming rebels actually succeeding.” - Marc Lynch

The U.S. and its regional allies armed and trained “moderate” Sunni rebels to oust President Bashar al-Assad of Syria in order to weaken the Iranian/Russian influence in the Middle East. Then those “moderate” Sunni rebels became more radical and joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) which has emerged as the largest, wealthiest and most-radical terrorist organization in the region.
The strategy of arming radical Sunni Muslims has been an abysmal failure, yet Hillary Clinton and neoconservatives like Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham continue to push their Brzezinski-inspired foreign policy. In a swipe at the Obama administration, Clinton said, “Failure to help Syrian rebels led to the rise of ISIS.”
Last Sunday, both McCain and Graham appeared on the Sunday talk shows to warn about the “direct threat” of ISIS.
Graham told Fox News, “The Islamic State is ‘an existential threat’’ to our homeland.” Graham asked, “Do we really want to let America be attacked?”
What the mainstream media fails to ask war hawks like Graham is what made ISIS a threat in the first place?
What the mainstream media is not telling you is that both Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham played roles in strengthening ISIS and other Islamic insurgents in Syria.
ISIS success is due to the support they received from the CIA and key U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf — Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Both countries remain to be a critical financial support for al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. Recently, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki accused Saudi Arabia and Qatar of openly funding the Sunni Muslim insurgents.
McCain still praises the Saudis, despite the known fact of its state-sponsored terror network and funding sources.
At the Munich Security Conference, McCain said, “Thank God for the Saudis and Prince Bandar and for our Qatari friends.”
According to Steve Clemons writing for The Atlantic, “ISIS, in fact, may have been a major part of Bandar’s covert-ops strategy in Syria.” Clemons notes that according to one senior Qatari official, “ISIS has been a Saudi project.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that the Saudi ambassador, Adel al-Jubeir, recruited both McCain and Graham to “put pressure on the administration to get more involved in Syria.”
So why are U.S. Senators working with the same actors who are behind ISIS instead of working to cut off the Islamic funding mechanisms?
Not only has the U.S. created an unholy alliance with states who sponsor terrorism, it has strengthened ISIS by training and arming radical Sunni insurgents who join ISIS, that share similar goals of creating an Islamic caliphate.

The CIA trains and arms Islamic rebels making matters worse.
There is no real distinction between moderate rebels and ISIS. In fact, there are an endless parade of reports that the U.S.-supported “moderate rebels” in the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have joined ISIS. See here, here and here.

The FSA, al-Qaeda affiliate al-Nusra Front and other Syrian rebels are joining forces with a unifying goal of creating an Islamic state.
Despite the reality on the ground in Syria and Iraq, politicians continue to advance their failed policies and the mainstream media never challenges them. They refuse to accept that arming Sunni rebels prolongs the conflict and makes matters worse.
The foreign policy strategy of arming radical Islamist to fight in American proxy wars postulated by Clinton, McCain and Graham is not based on any winning strategy but is based on political distraction by averting attention away from their failures.
The blame game is alive in Washington, D.C.. But their ideas are dangerous for the American people who face a challenging world.
Foreign Policy’s Marc Lynch, said that the scheme of arming rebels is “just wrong” and it’s a strategy that won’t work. He noted that an “external support for insurgents typically makes conflicts longer and bloodier.”
“It’s difficult to produce a single example in modern history of a strategy of arming rebels actually succeeding,” said Lynch.
Steve Clemons describes the current blowback in Iraq perfectly:
“ Like elements of the mujahideen, which benefited from U.S. financial and military support during the Soviet war in Afghanistan and then later turned on the West in the form of al-Qaeda, ISIS achieved scale and consequence through Saudi support, only to now pose a grave threat to the kingdom and the region.”
“It’s this concern about blowback that has motivated Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to encourage restraint in arming Syrian rebels. President Obama has so far heeded these warnings.”
According to recent polls, Americans want to be less active in global affairs. What will bombing ISIS in Syria and Iraq really accomplish when there is no real prospect of victory?
In recent opinion piece, Pat Buchanan asks, “If ISIS’ gains are truly an “existential threat” to the republic and our cities are about to “go up in flames,” why did these Republican hawks not demand that President Obama call back Congress from its five-week vacation to vote to authorize a new war on ISIS in Syria and Iraq?”
Congressman Thomas Massie agrees with Buchanan.
“Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution gives Congress—not the President—the power to declare war … these air strikes require congressional authorization, and the American people deserve open debate by their elected officials,” said Massie.
Massie told the media that “America’s national security interests in Iraq are unclear, because Iraq poses no imminent threat.”
“And, because the President has not articulated a long term strategy, I would vote against authorizing the use of military force in Iraq,” Massie said.

When You See the Size of ISIS’ Army, You’ll Realize the Real Threat They Pose

in News, Opinion, Politics, World News / by Sean Brown / on August 20, 2014 at 4:53 pm /

The Islamic State (IS) terror group has been growing at a tremendous rate ever since they took over portions of Syria and Iraq and declared an Islamic caliphate, brutalizing non-Muslims and instilling a reign of terror in the region.
Al Jazeera is reporting that a monitoring group has said that the extremist army has grown to a size of more than 50,000 fighters in Syria and last month alone recruited more than 6,000 new members, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down. According to the UK-Based group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, IS’ recruitment push continues to gain momentum every month.
“July saw the largest recruitment since the group appeared in Syria in 2013, with more than 6,000 new fighters,” the director of SOHR, Rami Abdel Rahman, said.
“The number of IS fighters has passed 50,000 in Syria, including 20,000 non-Syrians,” he said.

Al Jazeera said that they weren’t able to independently verify the numbers from the observatory group; however, they’re reporting that a source within IS seemed to back their figures and also revealed they have another 30,000 jihadists currently in Iraq.
IS has made a name for itself through its savage acts perpetrated upon both the civilian population and military fighters; crucifying, beheading and conducting mass executions of everyone who opposes them. Their push across the two nations hasn’t appeared to slow much despite American efforts to stop them by using airstrikes, which have only appeared to embolden the extremists.
Immediately after the first airstrikes, members of the group posted sinister messages to social media, threatening Americans abroad and our homeland. Representatives of the group have also released several videos with messages to America, warning it to back down or face consequences, one of which was the beheading of an American photojournalist that was released yesterday.
The video showing the beheading of journalist James Foley contained yet another message to America, warning they have become a full-scale “Islamic army” and that any aggression towards them is an act of aggression towards Muslims around the world.

So any attempt by you Obama, to deny the Muslims their rights of living in safety under the Islamic Caliphate will result in the bloodshed of your people,” the speaker in the video said.
The end of the video showed another journalist who had been captured by the name of Steven Sotloff. The militants warned Obama that his next decision would determine the fate of the imprisoned man and threatened to kill him.

It would appear as if the “junior varsity” [quoting Obama] terrorist group could very well become a serious threat to the rest of the world if they’re not stopped. Perhaps it’s time to take them a little bit more seriously since they’ve proven they have the will, and the ability, to continue their press across the Middle East.

BIZARRE: Why is Obama’s State Department Trying so Hard to Defend Islam from Black Eye of ISIS?

    By Eric Odom
    0 7:41 pm August 21, 2014

I guess the title of this post is sort of self-answered. Since, of course, the Obama administration has protected, funded and assisted radical Islam factions since Obama took office. I mean, anyone who truly believes the State Department hasn’t funded and supplied ISIS is either intentionally fooling themselves or being willfully ignorant. Sure, the assistance has been “indirect,” but come on, let’s not pretend a spade isn’t a spade here.
What’s really quite absurd, though, is the State Department’s constant blatant claims that ISIS has nothing to do with Islam. Really? They really think the American people believe a group seeking to create an “Islamic State” has nothing to do with Islam?
    Via Breitbart.
Thursday at the daily briefing, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf declined to acknowledge ISIS’ declaration of war with the Untied States of America.
When a reporter said,”The reality is ISIS has announced it’s in a war against America,” adding, “Right or wrong that is what they are saying.”
Harf replied, “Well they can say whatever they like. But what I am making clear that is not what ISIS represents and they don’t represent any religion. They are at war with everyone they come in contact with.”
This is not the first time the State Department tried to claim ISIS has nothing to do with Islam. And it certainly won’t be the last.

[Watch] Head of Bin Laden Unit – ISIS and Open Border Will Mean Dead Americans

Posted on 21 August, 2014 by Rick Wells

Michael Scheuer, the former head of the CIA’s Bin Laden Unit, is asked his views on the release of secret information regarding the failed attempts to rescue James Foley and the possible rationale behind it.
He said it’s a silly attempt but can’t figure out an attempt to do what, listing several reasons why it is ill advised to do what the Obama regime has done.

    Video at the page link:

He says “You don’t want to advertise a defeat, I think, and clearly we were defeated in our attempt to get them.” Scheuer says you also don’t want to put them on the alert, telling them that we know where they’re holding their prisoners or at least that we think we know.
Scheuer also point out that by making the announcement and giving the impression that we are still looking, we may have accelerated the timetable. The ISIS terrorists may move up the murders of the other two captive Americans.
Scheuer characterized the disclosure as “a juvenile thing to do.”
In response to Obama’s portrayal in a statement that ISIS is a cancer, Scheuer says that Obama is where he has been since he became “president,” that “he is absolutely clueless as to what this enemy is up to and what it’s about.”
He says it’s not a cancer, it’s a worldwide insurgency that we have encouraged consistently by refusing to kill them and through Obama’s “Arab Spring.”
Scheuer says the most important thing we can do right now is to close our borders, particularly the southern border but parts of the Canadian border as well.
Mr. Scheuer points out that right now, we are exposed not only internationally but within the continental United States as well. Our enemy, he says, “won’t be marching in in combat order.” They will be an insurgency that will infiltrate.
Scheuer says it’s a simple conclusion of logic; close the border, protect America. But we don’t have politicians who give a darn about protecting America. They’re more concerned with not being called anti-Hispanic or anti-human rights. He says Americans will die as a result.

Former CIA Officer Says ISIS and Mexican Drug Cartels Communicate

U.S. Gov. and CIA connected to drugs and terror

    by Kurt Nimmo | Infowars.com | August 21, 2014

A former CIA officer, now a security consultant who regularly appears on Fox News, told the Laura Ingraham Show Thursday ISIS and Mexican drug cartels communicate with each other.

“We’ve had good intel over the years about al-Qaeda, about their efforts to coordinate with, as an example, Mexican cartels… in an effort to try to exploit our southern border,” Mike Baker told Ingraham.
The one-time CIA employee said there is “a lot of communication” between ISIS and drug cartels and “the cartels are a business… if there’s a revenue stream they can exploit, then they will, and the extremists understand that.”
It is not clear if this intel was passed on to Baker by his former colleagues.

In 2012 a spokesman for the Chihuahua state in Mexico, Guillermo Terrazas Villanueva told Aljazerra the CIA and other intelligence agencies manage the drug trade in Mexico.
“Credibility issues with employees of the notoriously corrupt Mexican government aside, the latest accusations were hardly earth shattering — the American espionage agency has been implicated in drug trafficking from Afghanistan to Vietnam to Latin America and everywhere in between. Similar allegations of drug running have been made against the CIA for decades by former agents, American officials, lawmakers, investigators, and even drug traffickers themselves,” writes Alex Newman.
Other agencies of the United States government stand accused of complicity with Mexican drug cartels, including the DEA and the Justice Department.
Also left unsaid is the documented fact the CIA and the United States government trained, armed, funded and supported Osama bin Laden and his followers in Afghanistan. This fact was reported by the BBC, Forbes, ABC News and others (many corporate media sites, however, scrubbed this information soon after the terror attacks of September 11, 2001).
Asked about the geopolitical impact of the CIA’s 3 billion dollar operation to create an Islamic mujahideen in Afghanistan beginning in 1979, Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser said: “What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Muslims or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the Cold War?”
ISIS, now a self-declared caliphate called the Islamic State, also has connections to the CIA and the Pentagon.
William Engdahl, an award-winning geopolitical analyst and strategic risk consultant, recently wrote that ISIS “is being shaped and controlled out of Langley, Virginia, and other CIA and Pentagon outposts as the next stage in spreading chaos in the world’s second-largest oil state, Iraq, as well as weakening the recent Syrian stabilization efforts.”
The corporate media now pushing a full-fledged war on ISIS in response to an unverified and suspicious beheading video fails to mention our troops will go up against fighters trained by U.S. instructors in Jordan. For more on the CIA connection to ISIS and the Islamic brigades funded by the Gulf Emirates working to overthrow the government of Syria, see our ISIS and the Plan to Balkanize the Middle East.
