Hate Crime Laws Applied in Increasingly Stupid Ways/ I’m on record as being somewhat uncomfortable with hate crimes legislation. I’m just not wild about the government punishing people for what’s in their thoughts. But I do see why society might want to make racial animus an aggravating factor in crimes.

It’s complicated, and that makes me think that prosecutors should show some flex when it comes to slapping a hate crime designation on top of a crime. But reasonable people will disagree, and I get that.

What I don’t get is how any rational human being could legitimately think that a small child is guilty of a “hate crime.â€

I agee that they probably are illegal, however, we absolutely cannot operate under that assumption because doing so put us at risk of profiling based on heritage and/or skin color.

This is a casual discussion forum , it does contain many items pertaining to illegal immigration as it should , but it is what it is , general discussion
We talk about a wide range of items here on this forum , This is usually the first place visitors come also
So I will apologize if you got dinged wrongly , we sometimes do that , but then again after you have been here a while , you'll get it

Frustration runs pretty high with some of us , we have been fighting the problem for so long and so hard that sometimes we vent , or lash out, we also need a bit of a breather and we use this thread for that purpose
