I am not saying he should not be our President and I am willing to have a wait an see attitude and I pray he does not favor the far left agenda but I am sick of everyone's focus on his black heritage by a African father.

I wish the first black President would have been a black person whoes family suffered the degredation of our racially biased past by not only some whites but by other nationalities as well, including some blacks.

That would have been a truely historical moment instead of this watered down attempt at casting a half black half white man raised in a white mothers enviroment as being the First African American President.
I agree with what you said!
There would be no better way to bring this country together under the circumstance than a black president who has the moral fotitude to stand up to all the corruption going on in Washington. One that loves his neighbor regardless of his color. And, one that would put the American people first, and uphold the constitution.

The immigration issue is not a racial issue. It's Americans dealing with foreign nationals.

The only non-racial category necessary is American. Concentrating on race, making policy because of race will not unite us for sure. I also believe joining raced based organizations creates division and they are often racist and us-against-them groups.

African blood you had, you where black
Since I'm a family historian I know, I'm Black Dutch. I know that some of my ancestors were outcasts in Europe and that's why they came to America in the early 1700's. I also know that American Indians were counted as blacks on the Census and treated very badly too. There were also many blacks in this country's history that were not slaves, they were freemen and women and some were quite wealthy. Not all blacks in America's history were slaves or from Africa and many slaves were indentured servants and debtors from European descent. The vast majority of whites didn‘t have enough money to even own a single slave. In fact, many of my ancestors were poor share croppers in the south and never owned any property and they migrated from state to state seeking work and they worked along side the blacks in the fields ripping their hands up picking cotton. None of my ancestors were slave owners. I also know that my family was shunned by relatives because of an interracial marriage.

Oh and you could call me white and my siblings leave people guessing. I know for sure my nationality is American. I'm who I am because of my life, my accomplishments, the content of my character, and not because of my multi-colored ancestors. I've been labeled white but I‘m really just an American.

Frankly, Obama should be just an American President.

This isn't about race and a lot of Americans know it. I find it interesting that near my town in Ohio, we are fighting a sanctuary city...and most of the people fighting it are American Blacks. It's about our nation. It's about law. It's about the safety and well-being of our citizens and all the things we have all fought for and worked for. Period.

My point was that the black leaders in this country are pushing illegal immigration as a civil rights issue, rather than an issue of legality. The more blacks understand this is not the case, the better. La Raza isn't anything but a race-baiting hate group who demand rights for ILLEGAL ALIENS that they should not have. La Raza is the source of the hate.

I couldn't agree more. My post wasn't a response to anything you said. It was just my opinon, based on my observations and reading.

This issue isn't about race people. We need to stop making it a race issue and make it an American issue which encompass Hispanics, Blacks, Whites, Asians, Native-Americans. It's about legality not race.

There is also the economic Argument. Advocates of unfettered immigration maintain that without an expanding population US enterprises will not remain competitive against the two industrializing countries with REALLY BIG populations, India and China. So an American company fighting for a niche within a certain industry will argue that it needs much more manpower--and also needs to keep its employee expenses in check. I think this is the reasoning that is driving the US Chamber of Commerce in its immigration advocacy. By this reasoning the typical American employee has become too expensive---particularly in the global marketplace where US companies no longer compete only against the standard European rivals, but against Asian upstarts with limitless cheap labor.

We're already seeing a lot of Chinese made products forcing North American products off the market. Look at all the electronic products made in China, plus the tools and small equipment now, too.

The counterargument to this, I think, is that if the US is in trouble, then western countries with really small populations should be going under. But they aren't. The Scandinavian countries have miniscule populations but are doing quite well. Germany and France with moderate populations are doing fine. Canada with less than a tenth of the population of the US and more extreme weather conditions is doing fine. Australia is doing OK.

Do we really need to worry? The Chambers of Commerce think we do.

    2) is a pretty dumb statement. It's like a one time ignorant friend of mine telling me most Whites are racists towards Blacks.
