    Just my opinion, but...

doesn't the U.S. Constitution SAY that the people shall have the right to petition Congress, or the President to redress their grievances? Or something like that? So, a class-action lawsuit based on that should be constitutional, because the CONSTITUTION says so. So...how can they go against the Constitution?

    Just an idea.

    Class Action Suit Option

I think withholding federal funds from offending local governments would be the fastest and very effective. Withdrawing tax exemptions would be motivational too. Suing for injunction against use of eminent domain by local governments would also work like a charm. Timing is everything. If they connect the dots to the timing, they'll get the message loud and clear.

The suits don't even have to win, they can just act as a form of DOS -- denial of service. *grinz*

Once the renegade governments get the picture, they'll develop better listening skills. They will cooperate more readily and with cooperation we have a better chance of succeeding. Now, they'll suggest how they can help, just to get us off their back. I have many, many suggestions but I'm so tired from writing all the senators and representatives and governors today, that I'm plum out of typing for now.
But we all heard the President agree to grant amnesty today. We cannot let that in fact happen.

My hero brother is an attorney in the state of California. If you want me to ask him anything about this or ask if there is anything he can do ( if he can ) PM me and let me know. I have a one rate plan so can call people who need to be called ( though I will not call a certain Biblical number ). Btw, count me in to be part of a lawsuit of this nature as well as to know about where others can apply to be part of it as well. I have felt there should be some way we can sue for our rights against the powers that feel they have the right to sell out our country.

Wasn't there part of the 14th Amendment, Article 3 about redressing wrongs done by the executive branch? Seems someone had it posted on a thread on one of these boards. I think the Constitution had this kind of problem in mind when it was written. How intelligent were our founding fathers? Absolutely brilliant men to think of all the possible problems that might occur in the future.

I'd say the elected officials have committed treason. And treason can be punished in the most serious of ways.

    Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Spidey, do you still think the government cares? They will only give us OUR rights when we get their complete attention. IMHO I think that will only come if we start impeachment proceedings. Hold his feet to the fire and he'll smarten up real fast. Petition, yes , yell and scream, yes, protest, email , call. YES , but most importantly send Senor Bush packing ! I don't care on what pretext or issue. Every group that has a grievance petition going on this walking excuse for a human, has my support.

Please do. Let's get a sense of where we get started. I do know, having worked for attorneys for over 20 years, we need to meet certain criteria to qualify as a class. I think we're there, or pretty close. If not, we can sue as an organization, a coalition of several would be best. If we want instant media attention, we need to file a complaint this week. Just the act of filing will get lots of attention. We can amend it as it goes, depending on how it can get through the various hurdles.

Another tactic: send a letter to the ACLU - yes, them - requesting they represent us and the Minuteman groups. It will dare them to obey their principles to fight for our First Amendment rights, just like they do for neo-Nazis and pornographers. It will be a very "sexy" case for them, we all know how hungry they are for controversy and media attention. Likely, they'll ignore us, or reject us. That will also interest the media just as much - hey, does the ACLU have double standards?

I have all KINDS of ideas, most unorthodox, disarming and unexpected. None are truculent, illogical, incendiary, inflammatory, offensive, alarming, inciting or, of course, illegal.

Letting people stay, who've been here a long time, breaking the law year after year, is AMNESTY. Sen. Kennedy and Pres. Bush, holding hands in front of us, can move their lips all they want. It is Amnesty. Further confirmation? Are there any mass demonstrations in the streets by illegal aliens protesting that what he said is NOT amnesty? They're thrilled; they got what they want: to stay put.

I continue to write, write, write. Did I mention that I'm still writing?

Count me in on a class action. I had asked about this in an earlier post. Just the mere fact that they are not arresting/citing employers who hire illegals, I would think is going against our (Amercans) civil rights.
