Not really a source, but they're making that claim here:

Edit to add quoteEPA Toxic Release Inventory data ranks TXUs Monticello plant in East Texas as the worst in the nation now, and with at least 1,456 pounds of mercury per year, Oak Grove would top the list.Unemployment is not working. No, Crockett, I don't have a 'link'.
Do a Google and the article is very near the top.
If you do know anything about this subject, and I absolutely believe that you do, then you know where to find this information - much better than I.
If you are trying to prove that the article I read is bogus - who knows. From my personal experience with the plant - I believe it. Or I guess I could believe our government and the energy companies. Somehow I am not ready to do that.
But I am the 'link' for having lived near that plant for many years. I am the 'link' that is stating it is not clean - 'cleaner' maybe - but 'cleaner' really means very little.
I don't believe media hysteria - but actually I haven't seen any media coverage of this - only pretty commercials with children telling us just how clean coal is and how much we have in this country. I learned about this from a local TV station story - not on the national level.
Hysterical - no. Concerned and opposed - definitely.
I am 65 years old so I won't have to live with them - but other will.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I looked at the rankings and did not see the plant listed among the worst, much less as the worst. I was just curious as to the source. If we have one of the dirtiest plants in the nation, I would want to know about it. When I was providing compliance solutions back ten years ago, none of the Texas plants had serious compliance problems. Most of the problem plants were East Coast plants using Bunker C.

EPA website, TRI download. I searched the section that included power plants. The most recent completed TRI was released in June 2006 and was for the 2004 year.

I think we should give Americangirl a break! Also, along with Hollywood, we should let them have Las Vegas, then keep them out of everywhere else in the USA if that's possible.
