OK..So I decided to take my daughter to rent a movie. We decided to go the back way, as I passed a street I noticed a Latino male walking from a house proudly displaying a two-three ft. knife(machete) on his belt hoop. Now this is one of the poorer streets in the neighborhood The demographics mainly Anglo, black and a few (legal)Hispanics with the cars to match..but the people where cool..To my surprise the street is now(in less than one year) is ninety percent Latino and several houses with several extended cab pick-up etc...we are talking 30,000 dollar rigs...The Man didn't seem fazed by my stare at first till I flipped the cell phone open. Then he ran off, but we didn't see which house he entered. Each driveway on both sides had several(8-10)Latinos, It look like a labor camp...
BUT WAIT here is where the story gets good...First the cops drove down the street but didn't bother speaking to anyone..(I have a scanner and know call signs). So I called dispatch..and ask about immigration or ICE or DPS..and they said "Oh we don't have those numbers...You have to call the Sheriffs office." So I did...and they said"Oh we don't have those numbers..that's federal." After further discussion with dispatch..he said I should call Border Patrol..Now, I am approx. 300 plus miles from the border and I have never seen a BP around here. He continues with " Wait I remember.. you need to call LAREDO POLICE DEPT..that's who we call if we need something." I try not to burst into laughter over the total insanity of what he has just told me. I decide to follow this futile effort and response. I am surprised Laredo dispatch didn't fall on the floor laughing and believe it or not LAREDO PD had no numbers to give me. Dispatch said the computers where down..and to call 1411...The icing on this lovely cake our local phone books do not supple these numbers Border patrol, INS, or ICE as the once did in the past..(could be they are saving money, I think not).
Can you imagine the average Joe trying to report something important...
This is a case of the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing syndrome or is it well orchestrated plan.
