You can exchange emails privately which would be safer at this time.
If after checking the box, usually it will let you know that your request is being processed, and how long it might take until you are off the list.
If you should continue to keep receiving the unwanted emails, contact them and remind them that they are breaking the law, and you will report them. If you have to report them, you can make alot of money off them, while they will have to pay lawyers to represent them in court.

I thank you for the info. I have often thought that since my email is through my phone line, then why can't the "Do Not Call" law be applied to emails as it is with phone calls? It seems to me that these hate emails are a violation of federal and state laws.

It usually means you're being effective with whatever you're doing. Personally I figure the hate mail and such just goes with the territory; one of their other big games is to sign up for e-mail lists and then report it as spam, trying to get websites blacklisted, I loathe having to scroll through all the porn trash in my bulk folder to make sure I don't miss anything legit or important far more than recieving any hate mail.

For those inclined to open e-mail like that, often you can get a general idea of where they're coming from if you view the full headers and know how to read them

    BrotherJohn,

OK, I'm going to show my ignorance again:

    What's a full header?

Headers are all the technical gibberish at the top of your e-mail, there's plenty of websites that explain them better than I could

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=I ... ers+how-to

if you read them and can determine the IP# an e-mail originated from, you can then look the number up doing a whois search at somewhere like www.whois.sc or www.dnsstuff.com

and all that will tell you is their ISP. You then have to email their abuse department with the entire email, including the headers, and request action. Most of the time these requests are ignored however, sad to say. ISP's really won't get involved unless there is a serious crime.

yeah most abuse dept's are useless; occasionally people don't think and send email like that from work, or from a computer at school, a government office, libraries etc.,
