    Just want to weight in.

I am immigrant from Eastern Europe. White, educated, healthy, 30 years of age. I hold US patent for US memorabilia collectible piece that shows the strength of US currency for last 100 years. SUPER Patriotic product but I cannot promote it. (read on why) I'm also an owner/operator of small customer service company. 90% of my customers are white Americans in their mid 40th with their own house, family, kids, and dogs. I do not associate with people from the country I came from as many of them still live like they just got "off the boat". I have couple of people from my country of origin who live in USA since their childhood, speak English, and have all American friends. We even speak English to each other as it's simpler.

To bring some contrast to your picture of illegals, I am illegal alien. Not by my will but by the will of legal system that, due to my young age, I had no control over. I was brought in US as a child. My parents were asking for political asylum. The case lasted for more than 10 years and I lost my status when I turned 21. My parents went through whole legal process just to discover that unless you lie, just like all 99% jews from Eastern Europe did to get asylum, you will not win your case.

Now, I do agree with you guys that majority of illegals are exactly the way you describe them: no education, welfare hungry, some are serious criminals, ignorant, no English, no respect to America, giving birth to children they cannot support financially so they put that burden onto US taxpayers. I do agree with you that there cannot be an amnesty for everyone. What I do not agree with you on is that why should there not be a selective process to grant a right to live in US to people like me or kids of illegal immigrants who are brilliant in college? I know couple of guys who are very smart and educated but are in the same position like me. And I would love to go through right legal process but there is no law that applies to my case but deportation. I would leave tomorrow, but I have no idea where to go. It's like sending a guy from Ohio to England. Yeah, English is an official language in both countries but where do you go from there? Just your clothes and 4 directions to walk nowhere. The worst thing is you spend so many years of your life trying to succeed in US and then getting thrown to another country you don't know to start over.

I know that some people will just say "sorry, but you have to follow our laws, if you don't like them-leave" (according to the law, I cannot change my status now by any means), some people will say "you are a criminal, you should be in jail" (like I'm free being illegal), some people will say " your parents are the ones to blame" (what do you do if you have to wait more that 10 years for government to resolve your case? You wait, but you become illegal during waiting process and will be deported). My point is that 80% of illegals are the way you describe. But America needs NORMAL immigrants. There is a small number of people like me who are already in US but are illegal. Why doesn't any Senator brings it to the table and make good for America? Why does government gives out political asylum to people who don't know how to read and count? Why billions of dollars go to Section 8 and welfare and to people who give birth to babies just to live off that? And why is a person like me has to be in position where I am?

By the way, awhile back I send out an application for Tax ID to pay taxes and government did NOT approve it. I want to pay taxes but government doesn't want my money. I still have that rejection notice...

    Kathy,

Flying the flag up side down means "distress". I flew it that way for a while when Bush got us into Iraq on false pretenses. It would be fitting for all us to fly it until our immigration laws are enforced.
Take a stand or all there will be left to do is to ask the last person in the country we once called America to lower the flag one last time.

You might be illegal if you open a bank account with a TIN not a SSN.
