    LATINA interrupts Shenandoah hearing

BREAKING NEWS Hispanic protesters interrupt hearing

Published: Monday, August 18, 2008 10:13 AM EDT

A preliminary hearing for three juveniles accused of beating an illegal immigrant from Mexico who subsequently died of his injuries, had to be interrupted Monday morning. The hearing before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, being held in the Schuylkill County Courthouse for security reasons, had to be recessed due to noise from Hispanic activists of the group Latina protesting outside the courthouse in Spanish. To see if the hearing resumes, visit republicanherald.com later and read Tuesday's edition of The REPUBLICAN & Herald.

Court protests halt hearing in immigrant killing

POTTSVILLE, Pa. — Courthouse protests have caused a brief interruption in the preliminary hearing of three teenagers charged in the beating death of a Mexican immigrant in a small Pennsylvania town.

About 40 protesters outside the courthouse in Pottsville have been told to keep quiet or they'll be forced to move. The protesters are from workers and immigrants' rights groups.

A defense attorney complained about the distraction and the hearing was recessed for several minutes until the protesters quieted down. There have been no arrests.

Luis Ramirez was attacked July 12 when he crossed paths with a group of teens in the town of Shenandoah, about 80 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

A judge is deciding if there is enough evidence against the three to send the case to trial.

That's putting it a little twisted!! He wasn't "attacked" he fully engaged a group of teenage boys in a physical machismo fight.

The link in the original post has a picture of a bunch of young girls in pink berets .. they look like girl scouts!! There are a few adults with them, but really they're YOUNG, too young to understand what's going on.

Why on earth would the group Latina be protesting? The teens responsible are being given a fair trial. What more does Latina want for these teens?

I'm guessing here, but I gather they want the boys tarred and feathered.

Couldn't that "interruption" of court be construed as obstructing justice and have the little Latina hecklers arrested? Or were they all under age so that nothing could be done to them....these Latino groups like to use their children to get their points across.

3 Pa. teens ordered to trial in immigrant's death

    By MICHAEL RUBINKAM
    Associated Press Writer

POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- A judge has ordered three teenagers to stand trial on charges related to the beating death of a Mexican immigrant in a small eastern Pennsylvania town.

A judge in Pottsville said Monday that prosecutors have enough evidence to try 17-year-old Colin Walsh and 16-year-old Brandon Piekarsky on counts of third-degree murder and ethnic intimidation.

Eighteen-year-old Derrick Donchak has been ordered to stand trial on aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and other offenses.

Luis Ramirez was attacked July 12 when he crossed paths with a group of teens in the town of Shenandoah, about 80 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

All three defendants were football players at Shenandoah Valley High School.
