Dear Your Members of Congress,

Birthright citizenship is an outdated practice that lures foreign nationals to the United States so their unborn children can become U.S. citizens. Please work to end this policy that most industrialized nations have already abandoned by cosponsoring S.45 and H.R.140.
While welfare enticements do clearly draw some people to the United States illegally and encourage them to remain here, the anchor created by birthright citizenship is the real problem. Once illegal aliens have given birth to a U.S. citizen, there is very little reason for them to return home. On top of this, President Obama's decision to provide relief from deportation to millions of illegal aliens with U.S.-born children encourages even more people to break the law and come to the U.S. illegally and makes it highly unlikely that the government will force these scofflaws to leave the country.
Ending the anchor created by birthright citizenship is critical to stemming the flow of illegal aliens and making sure they are able to return to their home countries. Please support legislation, S. 45 and H.R. 140, to end this practice.
