When people ask 'give me proof' - where's the data?, it is designed to denigrate anything that is said.
I always wonder just what 'data' are
'proof' would be acceptable?

Do we ask the newspapers, the TV media, our own government, etc., etc.?

The 'They', for me in this instance, is quite a few constructions worker, small construction businesses, in the area. You know, the people who actually work in the business.
