    6. He frustrated some members of his own party with policy proposals in the House.
In the House, he showed a willingness to oppose his own party long before the modern tea party wave bucked the GOP establishment. Among other things, he opposed then President George W. Bush’s Medicare expansion and the No Child Left Behind Act. He also authored a bill to create a guest worker program, which drew ire from fellow conservatives. Under the proposal, which never passed, immigrants would apply from their home countries and could be matched with potential employers.

They have changed the wording in that article since I copied it and posted it here.

Pence is the Anti-Trump, the worst possible choice for VP. Extremely disappointing. Has sucked the air right out of the movement in my opinion. Maybe Manafort's got a solution for THAT. Get Lewandowski back on the campaign staff. NOW.

We the people DO NOT WANT Pence as VP. Get that through your head, Manafort. Neither you nor KellyAnne Conway or any of the other boom-bah johnny come latelys have advanced this campaign to its amazing achievements so far, Donald Trump and the people did that, Donald Trump and his voters did that, we don't want no guest worker supporting, amnesty loving, free trade sanctimonious dirt bag on the Trump ticket.

    Period.

I don't see anything in particular in the above article to suggest he is not the guy for Trump's VP -- which is not to say that somebody else like Scott Brown might not be better.

If something bad happened to Trump, if he was president, we would have a lot more to worry about then who it was replaced him.
The "touchback" amnesty plan Mike Pence floated never was actually a piece of legislation. That is why you won't see anything official on it. It was Pence's attempt at making a compromise with the left. It was a plan that he laid out publicly, a suggestion if you will, not an actual piece of legislation that he filed. Besides all that, he is a big time free-trader and high tech visa supporter. If you pretend none of those things happened, Pence probably isn't a bad choice. NumbersUSA just put out a piece sort of praising him. Of course NumbersUSA doesn't consider trade issues or suggestions in their grading criteria. I'll admit Pence may not be as bad as some are suggesting. I guess Trump could have given us worse. Of course he could have given us better too. Perhaps Pence will grow on us because he has done a lot of good things in the illegal immigrant/border security arena. It is what it is and there is nothing we can do to change it.

For the record, I'm not attempting to defend Pence. Basically just saying it's something we'll have to live with.

Not only that, but despite Trump's outspoken claims, I have a wait-and-see attitude about Trump too. But I firmly believe that he is committed to the actions he claims and that the difference he would make is so great that it is hard to anticipate where politicians will be standing on these same issues this time next year if he makes the presidency.

Whatever Pence brings, remember that there are still people out there in high places that think it is still possible to replace Trump's candidacy. Cruz is still out there and so is Rubio.
