Thread: Network TV put Mexico flag ahead of Old Glory

Hello everybody, this is my first post on your site.

As such I will offer this as a short intro. I am a 56 yr old male with a family of four, only one 13 yr old son still at home. One grandson. I am a native born Californian and a Vietnam combat vet, were I served two tours of duty with the 101st. I am a past commander of my local VFW and currently Chaplain of same. I am current commander of the Combat Infantrymen's Assoc. in CA. I attend a local Christian church and do jail ministry. I work for a local utility and enjoy photography and paragliding.

I came across this site while doing through a search engine for the above subject. This may have been discussed as I noticed it for the first time myself early this past week.

Just want to make sure somebody other than myself is offended I guess.
And maybe do an email protest or something.

This is what I saw:

I was wathcing the morning news broadcast on the local L.A. television network, KTLA Channel 5 when they went to the traffic report from their helicopter. Clearly visible behind the reporter on the aircraft cabin wall were two small flag decals. One of Mexico, the other of the U.S. The Mexico Flag was placed left of the U.S. which is improper display according to U.S. flag protocol. Our flag should never be displayed in a secondary positon to any national flag.

As a Vietnam combat vet I find this horribly offensive.

Has anybody else noticed this subtle attempt to suborninate Old Glory?

This is the station. As I said I cought it by chance Mon or Tue last week. I know it was KTLA 5 as it is (or was) our preferred News channel. In fact, becasuse of my anger, I made sure who I was watching so I could complain. It was AM, not sure of the exact time...but morning news with the commuter traffic report by helicopter. This past Wed I returned to work after some time off, so I leave by 5:45 am which may be too early. I will tune in Monday at 5:am and keep an open eye until I have to leave. Maybe others on the site can watch the AM broadcast from 5:45 after I leave, and see if they still have the decals on display in the chopper.

Shame on you!

Last week I was shocked to see our flag displayed in decal or patch along with the flag of Mexico aboard your news chopper.

Not being a regular viewer of your network for news, I have no idea how long you have done this.

While I am sure it is both financially and politically motivated, it is improper, and you really should correct it.

When grouped with other national flags, the U.S. Flag goes to it's own right (viewers left) thereby making it first to view, left to right.

Fed Flag Code, Public Law 94-344 Sec. 3 (c)

My personal feeling, as Americans, we should display only one flag in public when doing so to show a national alligance.

A flag flown or displayed publicly for any other national pride, should be restricted to those days of that nations national holidays, and then always in proper position in relationship to the U.S. Flag if flown or displayed along with it.

At this moment we have young Americans dying on foreign soil for the U.S. Flag, not the Mexican flag.

Do it right folks, or don't do it all! You dishonor the rest of us.

Welcome to ALIPAC. I'm afraid the offensive behavior has just begun. Our volunteer coordinator Joy aka Redgirl1 was at a Beufort Co. NC Republican assembly of sorts this past week.

The local Republican Party was selling buttons with the Mexican Flag over the US Flag that read "Viva! Bush!"

Thanks W for the links. Very interesting...was aware that a lot of racial violence was being stirred up lately and the riots at local schools, blacks vs Chicanos. The BP situation was new to me...although I am aware of the large hispanic community there.

It could be a mean summer with all the issues in the fire. Things do not look too promising, that's for sure.

Being a native born Californian, I am concerned about the illegal immigration that is now out of hand, as most of us are.

I know that most legal Mexicans and California born Mexicans are against illegal immigration as well. Do they have an organized political voice?

Lupe Morino and several other Latino activists are on our side out in CA and ALIPAC has a growing list of Latino contributors that stand with us in this fight.

Lupe runs a group called "Latinos Against Illegal Immigration" and they should be hot on the web soon. Their site is under construction.

Lupe has been on the Lou Dobbs show and when I finally met her in the flesh at the Unite to Fight Summit I gave her a big hug. I mentioned her in my speech to the summit and started a "have you huged Lupe today?" campaign.

I hope you will consider becoming a regular here on our forums as we have a bigger mission.

Yes we exchange information, opinions, and ideas on these forums but we are also seeking out concerned citizens and trying to train people as activists for the cause on these boards.

A lot of people here have never done anything like this before. When we all work together and act together, our network and group of activists has accomplished great things.

We won Billboard Gate, we alerted the entire web to what FreeRepublic.com was doing to those in our movement and the Minutemen. We kick NC HB 1183 "in-state tuition for illegal aliens" into the dirt and now export information to other states on how we did it, and we played a key roll in getting the Baldwin Park video out to the world.

Our web traffic and army of volunteers continues to grow.
