    A new culture coming

Imagine going to work or shopping in a culture inhabited by people brought up like this:

    http://www.ocweekly.com/columns/ask-a-m ... can/27087/

"Dear Mexican: I’m a gringa married to a mexicano, and we have a 3-year-old son. His family is wonderful for the most part, and they adore my son, but as he is getting older, his tíos are trying to “toughen him up” and make him more macho. So far, they’ve taught him how to cuss (in both languages) and flip people off (like his preschool teacher). Lately, they’ve taught him to say inappropriate things about women’s bodies. I’ve talked to my husband, but he doesn’t want to say anything to them and doesn’t seem to care. How can I get them to stop?"

For now, if they do it in my workplace, they get fired, but who knows about the future?

The entire article is a satire if you read all of it. I doubt that question is even real. Read the other questions and you'll see what I mean ("Are Mexicans really baptized in bean dip?").

But the questions are often real - he solicits them. His answer about waiting on teaching lechery until the kid is old enough to hot wire a car is a joke, of course. He also criticised Mexican machismo.

That and guacamole. Aren't Americans are baptized in Budweiser?

The 'Ask a Mexican' column has been running for the last couple of years that I'm aware of, and the questions are all sent in from readers and listeners. (Yes, he's on the radio, too.)

The guy that does it is mostly hilarious, only occasionally dipping into the 'Reconquista mindset'.

Speaking of Bud - my family was German on my mother's side. As a child I got first a shot glass, then a juice glass of beer at the dinner table. By the time I was 12, at the big summer family picnics, I would go get my can of beer out of the ice tub on my way to play penny ante poker with the old guys (one eyed jacks and deuces wild). For us, beer was a food group. That would be SO illegal now.
