Nobody to Pick Crops? What About Illegal Aliens Already Here

    ByJohn W. Lillpop

In a minor victory for those who favor protecting America from terrorism and
preserving our sovereignty, language, and culture, the United States Senate, by a vote of 80-19, approved construction of 700 miles of new fencing along the southern border. Go: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,216797,00.html

This fencing was approved by the U.S. House two weeks ago; therefore, all that remains is for President Bush to sign the bill into law. Bush has indicated that he will do so.

In a sour note in an otherwise joyful tune, Sens. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., made an 11th-hour appeal to include a measure to help the agriculture industry, which relies heavily on illegal aliens.

"Pickers are few and the growers blame Congress," Craig said.

The growers blame Congress? How in Hades can growers blame Congress for enforcing America’s borders and immigration laws?

How about blaming the growers for hiring illegal aliens to begin with, in violation of U.S. laws? Or how about blaming growers for not offering competitive wages to attract American workers that are here legally?

Reports indicate that the “shortfall” of agricultural workers is also the result of illegal aliens working in construction and other U.S. industries.

In other words, illegal aliens already here are no longer willing to pick produce and fruit. So America needs to let in another 20 million illegal aliens?

But perhaps there are other ways to address the agriculture worker “crisis” without escalating America’s demise into a third world cesspool like Mexico?

For example, just this past April and May, Americans were horrified at the sight of millions of illegal aliens marching through our streets to protest the rule of law. Let’s round up these criminals, outfit them with straw hats, picking buckets, and other required farm- work paraphernalia, and ship them to the nearest needy growers!

County jail systems throughout America already use incarcerated inmates to clean parks and roadways, so why not force those here illegally to meet the needs of the American people for a change?

Other venues for locating illegal immigrants to do farm work include day labor centers, Home Depot stores, welfare offices, food stamp distribution centers, state and federal prisons, and voter registration drives sponsored by Democrats!

And a note to President Bush seems in order: With all due respect, sir, those menial jobs that “Americans will not do” are apparently beneath the dignity of the goodhearted, hardworking Mexican illegal aliens you want to ram down the throats of the American people.

Why, then, is it in the interest of America to grant amnesty to millions of criminals who glom onto public services to which they are not entitled and which cost taxpayers close to 100 billion dollars a year? And remember these are the same criminals whose illegal crossings weaken America’s homeland security and increase our vulnerability to terrorism.

Wake up, America. Granting amnesty to illegal aliens, or letting more in, is not an intelligent solution to anything!

Thans right, they have moved on to bigger and better jobs, OURS! I do not understand why convict labor cannot be used for these jobs, is picking fruits and vegetables beneath them? Maybe if there are not illegals left our teen agers might have some jobs, if they can tear themselves away from the computer and video games. There is still the choice for the farmers to bring those "guest workers" here for the season then send them back home, thats to much trouble though, have to fill out paperwork and keep up with them.
Build the dam fence post haste!

Why don't they use thousands of American prisoners (felons) the taxpayers already support? Why must we import millions of felons from another country to pick crops?

Those wages may have helped them live in the past when they went back to Mexico after a harvest. But those wages leave them in the same poverty if not worse, staying here. It's a TEMPORARY job. There is no temporary job that sustains anyone without having to fill in with other means. Which takes the jobs Americans need. Once they get a full time job they don't want temporary labor that pays squat either.

How they get their crops picked isn't our problem. It's common knowledge that if they doubled wages produce would only be priced slightly higher. Maybe we should be pointing our finger at the growers for their part in this invasion.
Which finger you point is of course optional.

These businesses need a little reality check. They are so worried about their profits that they have forgotten that people are working to make money in order to buy these things. If you don't pay enough for your people to afford live and buy these products then you aren't going to have people working for you and people aren't going to be buying these products and you then will be out of business.

I own a floor covering business. Wonder if I can cry a little bit and get some "free" or almost free installers. Heck, I can buy a bigger house, a new car, a yacht, investment properties ..... if only I could find some installers that will work for $4.00 an hour.

Maybe Governor Feinstein will send some Mexican felons my way. My business can reap all the rewards, while the tax payers of the US support my newly found "slaves" and their families.

Greed, greed, greed will be the destruction of this great nation.

If these poor, pitiful farmers and growers can't find enough workers from the 30,000,000+ already here, they should move to Mexico and ship the produce back.

What about stating that whoever is doing an AG job picking, then, maybe OK, but everyone else out. That goes for any kids belonging to any that have broken the law, unless the kids are already considered adults in their state of residency. The government must stand up to these claims of rights violations of the anchor babies. A recent example is how the judge recently ruled against Elvira's son's case in court, in essence saying it would not place an undue hardsip on him because his mom has to face deportation!

Good call! Good sense..this judge should belong to a third pary, if he doesn't already!

The call for pickers..how would we assign (being told when and where)those jobs to incoming pickers from Mexico, or anywhere else..do we assure that they don't venture back into other industries? If we implement ideas like these, can we be sure that those very ideas won't apply to the American citizen in the future?

The AG jobs scenario isn't as cut and dry as the the anchor baby rights issue (they're minors who have no rights to vote, drink, drive, own a business, etc..they can be deported with their parents). Five year old Elian Gonzalez, who was found in the Florida Straits on a raft, ended up being with his father. ANOTHER good call!

There are a lot of issues when it comes to making sure that these AG jobs are being filled, regardless to who's filling them. Food should not be allowed to rot. I believe that the Almighty would not take too kind to that one. At the same time, we don't want to let profits and economy outweigh our existing laws by allowing amnesty.

Slowly, it would seem, that precedent is beginning to form.

Had-enuf Thats a good idea but I'd be afraid of the chemicals they would use to save money, not to mention other contaminates.
