06-04-2006, 09:45 PM #31I have been a member of the AARP since I turned 50. Although I did get a bit irate with them when they got involved in the 2004 election, I have been satisfied with every benefit I've derived from that twelve bucks a year. My car insurance through them is just about half what it was before I changed over. I don't know if we have actually saved on any hotel bills or rental cars but I've shown my card and supposedly got a discount. Personally, I think that businesses jack up the price so I wait until after they tell me how much to mention my AARP card unless they ask me outright.Gee.....didn't realize AARP was that bad. Just joined about 6mos. ago. Thought the discounts might be helpful. I got a free membership to AARP when I turned 50, but I didn't renew after the first year.
Somehow, I just haven't been convinced they are really working for the elderly - but we just might check out the auto insurance. Here in Texas, it is astronomical.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

nntrixie, you think insurance is high in Tx you should try it in Okla, I about blowed a gasket after moving back to okla from Tx. a couple of years ago, I had state farm ins for years both in TX and Ok,the last time moving back home my insurance with sate farm increased by a third. I was outraged by this, never having an accident, move from a city to my little home town of 800 people give or take a little, I was thinking my insurance would go down instead of up since I was now in a rural area, the laugh was on me! I canceled my state farm ins. told them to take a hike and got my insurance through AARP for a whole lot less! thing is I am not crazy about AARP anymore since they are obviously far left, stuck though because of the insurance! I hardly ever read any of their literature they send anymore.
Build the dam fence post haste!

nntrixie, our car insureance was nearly two thousand dollars a year. Now it is less than 900. And we live in TX.
And another thing to consider is this: Nationwide put someone else's accident on our policy and that jumped up our rate tremendously. It was when our premium jumped up by a few hundred dollars in one year that I started looking for another insurer.
In addition, The Hartford, which is the insurance Co AARP hooks you up with, has ALL Americans on the phones and they are exceptionally helpful if you need to ask questions.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

That's me...except I do vote. And I still know a bad deal when I see one...so I have not signed up for the prescription program. Also, know a weak, sorry, do nothing, lack luster, no backbone president when I see one.Remember...confused and old people probably don't vote.

06-05-2006, 12:13 AM #36I like the way your mind worksI wonder, if all laws are being broken to favor illegals, why shouldn't we, the American citizens, make our own laws and kick these people out of our country? We know where they are, so let's grab them and throw them over the fence. If there are protests, what can they do? Arrest the whole country?
(bad julie bad!)
As far as illegals privileged... its already in our immigration laws, Hispanics and Japanese immigrants NOTE IMMIGRANTS not illegal immigrants have more rights than U.S. citizens. How's that grab you?
I'm for 24 dependents on our w2s right now and let the quarterly tax return send a message.
AND while on that topic I have not seen it posted but the quarterly reports came in and retailers were pleased with the exception of WALLMART :P
whose numbers were down ... they explained it away as "Most of our customers are from a lower economic level and the price of gasoline is responsible." or something along that line.
I think its time to write Wallmart and let them know exactly what is occuring."Liberty CANNOT be preserved without general knowledge among people" John Adams (August 1765)

YUP, they should know that their hiring of illegals plus all their offerings being from foreign countries have turned off the shoppers and will continue to turn off even more of us in the future. I just slam won't go into walmart anymore.

I just slam won't go into walmart anymore.

Thanks, JuniusJnr & Nittygritty I am going to get my husband on that soon.
Actually, we would probably save some with the AARP membership anyway. We travel in an RV for work a lot and many of the parks offer discounts for AARP membership.
No, but they would arrest enough to cool the fervor of the others.what can they do? Arrest the whole country?
That is why enforcement works. If the government would begin fineing employers, in a meaningful way, and advertise it - you would see things change - overnight. They don't have to get them all - just get enough to make the others think.
That is why a boycott will work - it seems to be working with Wal Mart and it seems to be working on the poultry industry.
If we could just get the word out why the sales are down, and take on some others - it would make a big differene.
Both Wal Mart and the poultry industry are giants and when there is a glitch for them, everyone knows it.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

06-05-2006, 04:54 PM #40this is all too true. they have special privileges. And since the people who support the illegals refuse to believe that they ARE illegal, many of the illegals get those same special privileges. Not to mention the nepotism arrangements through their dozens and dozens of cousins. As far as illegals privileged... its already in our immigration laws, Hispanics and Japanese immigrants NOTE IMMIGRANTS not illegal immigrants have more rights than U.S. citizens.
