On Saturday, Governor Spitzer announced that New York State would comply with the REAL ID Act, a law that passed Congress a couple years ago but has not yet been implemented. In fact, several states have moved to block implementation of the law due to serious concerns raised with respect to civil liberties, privacy and costs pushed onto state governments.

This announcement followed another decision made by Spitzer five weeks ago that granted drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants. Anti-immigrant forces in New York have successfully cornered the Governor. Spitzer is willing to undermine his own policy positions and betray his own principles at the risk of privacy and civil liberties for all New Yorkers.

If I see one more sign of theirs ending with the word stupid, I'm going to lose it.

If they want to simplify things, then the sign should read, “I’m illegal and too stupid to know or understand what that means!“

For people who are "living in the shadows" they have no problem protesting "in the light." They seem real frightened, don't they?

Good grief. WHAT are they whining about? Illegals shouldn't be getting ANY kind of driver's license in this country. This just goes to show how galactically ungrateful these folks are. Give 'em an inch and they whine, gripe and blubber til they get a mile.

I have this recurring daydream where ICE pulls up to the protesters,loads them in a big bus and takes them to detention for deportation.

If we can elect the right people maybe my daydream will come true.
