Since when were Tea Party's determined to be of any specific political leaning? I have attended numerous events and the overwhelming majority of attendees were ordinary patriotic Americans who feel that the government is out of control. We all strive to minimize any party affiliation whatsoever. The laughing stock of normal minded people? Hardly. The very people attending these events ARE normal minded people. Don't let yourself be deluded into thinking that this is anything other than a massive grassroots movement to take the country back from those who would co-opt it for their own selfish greed or idealogical reasons.

With all due respect, the WE that you refer to above is a very small minority kemosabe. Drug legalization? Gay marriage? Pro choice? These sound like talking points taken off of Daily KOS. My guess is that you have never attended a Tea Party. By the way, I fall into the category of "birther" if it is defined as someone who believes that the occupier of the office of President should be transparent and constitutional. By Obama's own public admission as well as his own writing, he is constitutionally ineligible to hold the office due to his fathers Kenyan citizenship. (but that's another story for a different forum)

The ONLY thing Beck did, was take the LIBERTARIAN idea of a tea party and use it for his own personal gain. Those people were used just as much as politicians use us, but for some reason people are too blind to see it. Lou Dobbs anyone? Ron Paul and the Libertarian movement is HUGE. It consists of liberals AND conservatives, while most people want to engage in an us vs. them game. Libertarians want to unite, while IDIOTS like Beck only wants what will get him ratings. If you can't see that, I guess I'm on the wrong site, especially after Dobbs finally came out to insult you. He was your hero, what makes Beck any different? His political views are based on what the money gets him, yet for some reason he is worshiped like an Egyptian God by people and can EASILY see that he is NOT who he says he is! WHY?????

I thought the Tea Party Movement was started to look at tax policy, taxes? Is that a platform that people oppose?

I'm a lifetime Republican from a family of Republicans who have been Republicans since there were Republicans and I am FOR gay marriage, FOR drug legalization, FOR pro choice as well. I also want illegal immigration GONE, and not with legalization, but with deportation. I also want free trade GONE and protected trade restored so we can secure our economy, jobs, wages, technologies, innovations, wealth and money supply. I also SUPPORT the FairTax.
