this site is full of animosity!!! RIDICULOUS

i thought this site was all for legal immigration, but after i read some of the posts, im not too sure. i am not a citizen, but i have a permanent residency (greencard). all you people sound like you are only open towards people who have the title of US citizens. and since most of you guys are citizens, you wouldnt even know how hard it is, and how much money it takes to come here legally. it took me 10 years to finally get my greencard. knowing what i went through, i believe there is strong need in an immigration reform. but i guess none of you guys are even open to that.

    SUPERSUPERME:

You aren't the only person in such a predicament. I personally know a foreign national that took 10 years + several thousands of dollars to gain PR (Perm Residency). She completed the citizenship process within the last 8 months or so. Oh yeah, that was in addition to completing a graduate degree here in the US as well.

If immigrating (well, emigrating from the outsider's perspective...) to the US were cheap and easy, then I suspect millions of people in the world (eg. everyone) would want and expect to do it... wouldn't they? We simply can not bring in everyone that wants to come here - it isn't xenophobic, nor racist, nor <reason du jour>... it's a fact. If we did, the US would change into a third world country overnight.

    Welcome aboard.

This nation is all filled up now thanks to criminals coming in .

Maybe you can help us deport the ones who have stolen your place in line ? If so welcome .But if you are involved in any of the groups who stand in our streets with foreign flags and make demands, then I hope you never become permanent, if not welcome and sorry it took so long .

We appreciate you coming through the legal channels, but the only thing wrong with out legal immigration policy is that it is too liberal. I'm not trying to be insensitive, but that is just the fact. We let in 1 million legal immigrants annually -- more than the rest of the world COMBINED. We have far and away the most liberal immigration policy on earth. Our nation can not sustain 1 million new comers each and every year (excluding illegals) and remain a First World nation with a viable middle-class.......not to mention what impact this will have on our lakes and rivers, our roads and bridges, our hospitals and schools. Further more, how can we speed-assimilate such numbers? When legal immigration is high, illegal immigration rises right along with it -- which is exactly why we have an illegal immigration problem to begin with. Huge immigrant communities have resulted from our legal immigration that has created a haven for illegals. Not to mention 90% of our immigrants come from nations that have never assimilated to a First World nation.

As far as the justifying being a pro-legal immigration site......Legal immigration is whatever America decides it to be. We need to go back to the 1965 level. Lest we lose the greatest nation in history.

    Welcome SuperSupreme.
All of us here at Alipac.us are for America, Americans AND everyone who comes to this great nation of ours LEGALLY.

Question-After you went to all the time, expense and trouble of doing it right, how do you feel about those who just slither over the borders-north and south-and get all the same benefits and priviledges as you?

I sure as hell hope not. Are you serious?

Well, he is the genius who spear-headed the 1965 Immigration Reform Act -- aka "The Peice of Legislation that Got us Into this Mess." You should check out some of Teddy's comments about it back then. Mind blowing.

Phred is right. America is a modern, developed, sovereign nation and needs to stop believing our own hype and grow up. We need to regulate immigration (and other access) for the same reasons the other sovereign nations do. The idea that we should be some wide-open town and not take the interests of the exisiting residents into account is foolhardy and our government needs to stop doing that.

We can't just let in however many people because they want to come here. We suffer from urban and suburban sprawl, traffic gridlock, and our parks and open spaces are endangered as it is.

Our government has a responsibility to us who have no homeland to return to if America doesn't work out for us. The decision as to how America will grow should be made by the stakeholders.

    SUPERSUPERME,

Well, instead of saying thank you for the opportunity America has given me, you complain.

In Texas we call that ungrateful. What you have received is not good enough. You want more than what we offer and that's a sense of entitlement. You complain about the cost because you want it for free.

Our immigration system is fine, and you protest because you just want it to be cheep and easy.

All I have to say is if you don't like it, then don't participate. Stay in your homeland because it is cheaper and easier to do than coming to America legally. Keep your money and don't bother us with your complaints.

I think America is too tough of a place for you. Americans are proud and brave not whiners and complainers. You really should consider going home, since coming to Ameirca is too difficult and expensive.

    Alipacers,

These people just drive me nuts. This person has spent more money on the damn car they are driving around in than they have coming to America. Yes, it's cheaper to come to America legally than to buy a new car. Really that puts a value on what is important to them.
