It would be great if we could instantly end birthright citizenship but the minute congress, the next president or anyone else does anything someone will file a lawsuit and the judge will put it on hold and it will all be tied up in court for years.

Geez, whenever I start to warm up to Trump he says something stupid! What he is describing here is moving illegals to the head of the line for legalization. In my book that is a form of amnesty.

Yeah but Trump won't take a bunch of dishwashers and busboys. He's talking about people who have a REASON to be here. Even the LA Times admitted that only 4 percent of illegals work in agriculture. FOUR percent! So instead of 11+ million illegals you would have a few hundred thousand applying for guest worker permits and then hopefully return to Mexico when finished.

I say Americans can do it but people swear up and down you can't get enough Americans to pick grapes and lettuce.

Americans have always picked grapes and lettuce. The people who claim you can't get enough Americans to do this work are the illegal employers lying to the media and politicians about American Workers. Even so, there is, has been and always will be the legal temporary agricultural workers program that brings in supervised workers to do this work and they are transported out of here at the end of the season by the employers who bring them in.

Other countries have done it. Conservatives should be more adroit in using the law, since this is where policy decisions often end up.

You can't put a non-action on hold. What is required is that they stop issuing passports and handing out Social Security numbers based on birth certificates issued to children of non-citizens. No court can force a stop to a stop. Furthermore, as soon as someone files for a US passport and a social security number whose parents aren't citizens, that information needs to be forwarded by SSA and the State Department to DHS for immediate removal of the family from the country. Also, if States are authorized by Trey Gowdy's bill to enforce US immigration law, States can also require proof of citizenship of the parents before issuing official birth certificates, which is what they should have been doing all along.

They are not native born, they are the children of illegal foreign nationals that are under the jurisdiction and protection of their home countries JMO
