    Trump Leads Hillary in Iowa

Donald Trump has a slight edge over Hillary Clinton in the battleground state of Iowa in a "toss-up" that could signal a "Midwest push" for the GOP presumptive nominee, a new poll shows.

The Monmouth University survey released Tuesday breaks down like this among likely voters in the Hawkeye State:

    Trump: 44 percent
    Clinton: 42 percent
    Libertarian Gary Johnson: 6 percent
Green Party candidate Jill Stein: 1 percent
    Another candidate: 2 percent
    Undecided: 6 percent

"It's a toss-up right now, but Iowa could be the leading edge of a midwest push for Trump," Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute says in a statement.

Broken down by party, the poll finds:

    Among Republicans:

    Trump: 87 percent
    Clinton: 6 percent
    Johnson: 5 percent
Stein or another candidate: 1 percent

    Among Democrats:

    Clinton: 86 percent
    Trump: 8 percent
    Johnson: 2 percent
Stein or another candidate: 1 percent

Clinton has the lead among women voters by 54 percent-33 percent, while Trump has a similar edge among men, 56 percent-29 percent.

"One unusual finding in the poll is that Trump leads among voters under 50 years old in Iowa," the pollster noted, with 51 percent of voters under 50 supporting Trump compared with 32 percent for Clinton.

Among voters age 50 and older, Clinton has the edge over Trump 50 percent-38 percent.
