was sent up to the Judiciary {Kennedy chairman} Committee yesterday!!

IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

January 4, 2007

Mr. REID (for himself, Mr. LEAHY, Mr. SCHUMER, Ms. CANTWELL, Ms. STABENOW, and Mrs. BOXER) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

A BILL

To recognize the heritage of the United States as a nation of immigrants and to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide for more effective border and employment enforcement, to prevent illegal immigration, and to reform and rationalize avenues for legal immigration, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007'.

SEC. 2. SENSE OF CONGRESS.

It is the sense of Congress that the Senate and the House of Representatives should pass, and the President should sign, legislation to recognize the heritage of the United States as a nation of immigrants and to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 et seq.) to provide for more effective border and employment enforcement, to prevent illegal immigration, and to reform and rationalize avenues for legal immigration.

Be sure to remind this Congress of sense that we are a nation of law abiding legal immigrants. Tell Congress to not de-value immigrants and their contribution by including criminals among them.

Oh, I just get so sick of this "nation of immigrants" label! As if we are the only nation in the world who are made up of immigrants!! All of the European countries have immigrants. The Latin American countries also have immigrants from all over the world, besides the Spanish or Portuguese. And they all have their official languages and expect their immigration laws to be respected. Enough!

Every country, with the possible exception of Africa is made up of immigrants IF you go back FAR ENOUGH in history. Stupid argument to use for their cause. To say "we are a nation of immigrants" is like a school of fish saying "we live in water". Well, DUH and your point IS?

Please everyone, NOTICE that first, the BILL WENT SENT UP with hardly a notice from the public. Who knew?

They've set the language up for an ALL OUT INVASION with limited regulations

Should we start this petition? Time to put her away.
Put her in a museum. Or hang a sign on her light...

No offense France for giving us this great statue but

Nope on the Lady. What it means is that we all should gather up our energy and get ready to LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!

And how about the "rationalize avenues".......now that was a very smart move. They're going to rationalize immigration for other purposes!

How about we melt her down and make barbed wire???
