US Government Gives Terrorist 40k in Grant Money

2 Chicago-area men accused in Ohio terror case

    February 21, 2007
    By Mike Robinson
Two cousins were arrested today on federal charges of conspiring to wage holy war against Americans overseas, including U.S. military forces in Iraq.
Zubair A. Ahmed, 27, of North Chicago, and Khaleel Ahmed, 26, of Chicago, were accused along with three other men who already had been under indictment on charges of plotting acts of terrorism against Americans overseas.

The fresh indictment returned by a grand jury in Cleveland added the two Chicago-area men to the roster of defendants and brought additional charges against the three other men.

The cousins, both American citizens, appeared briefly in Chicago before U.S. Magistrate Judge Geraldine Soat Brown, who ordered them sent to Ohio for arraignment. Prosecutors asked her to order them held in custody and sent to Ohio as federal prisoners. Defense attorneys asked for bail.

A hearing on whether to permit bail was set for 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Defense attorneys Gerald Collins and Brian Sieve said they had just met the two defendants, knew little about them and had no comment on the case.

The indictment claims that, between June 2004 and February 2006, the cousins and the other three men — Mohammad Zaki Amawi, 27, and Marwan Othman El-Hindi, 42, both formerly of Toledo, and Wassim I. Mazloum, 22, formerly of Sylvania, Ohio — conspired to ''kill or maim persons in locations outside of the United States, to including U.S. armed forces personnel serving in Iraq.''

The conspiracy allegedly included finding fresh recruits to commit terrorist acts and seeking out sites for training in firearms, hand-to-hand combat and the use of explosives. The men also allegedly agreed to raise funds for ''jihad training'' and download Internet information on improvised explosive devices.

A shadowy figure was described in the indictment only as the Trainer, a U.S. citizen with a military background. The indictment said the two cousins met with the trainer in July 2004 and discussed sniper tactics, counter-surveillance techniques and the use of heavy machine guns.

The three Ohio men, now in federal custody, were charged in the original indictment with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. Amawi was also charged with verbally threatening the president of the United States and unlawful distribution of a video concerning suicide bomber vests.

The new indictment charged Amawi with distributing information about explosive chemicals downloaded from the Internet and charged El-Hindi with distributing information about explosives and making false statements to officials.

The five men face a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted of conspiring to kill Americans overseas, according to federal prosecutors.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Cleveland said a separate indictment was returned charging Bilal Mazloum, 22, of Sylvania, Ohio, brother of Wassim I. Mohammad, with making a false statement to federal agents.

In addition, El-Hindi and Ashraf Zaim, 39, of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, are charged in a separate, seven-count indictment with conspiring to commit theft of public funds, making false statements and wire fraud in connection with a $40,000 federal grant they obtained to operate clinics for low-income taxpayers.

The government contends that no clinics were ever operated.

This gets more and more unreal everyday! What on earth is our government doing?

The incompetence of our government and most of its employees is complicit from the top to the bottom. It always amazes me how foreigners, new citizens and non-citizens have no problem in receiving an abundance of financial assistance from our government to open businesses, foundations and form race based "minority" groups that are allowed to exist after they have far outlived their usefulness in "leveling the playing field.

Four more people — including two suburban Toledo men and two others from the Chicago area — have been indicted in federal court in connection with an alleged Toledo-based plot to train terrorists fighting U.S. forces in Iraq, The Blade has learned.

Ashraf Zaim, 39, an Ottawa Hills resident and owner of A-Z Travel in Toledo; Bilal Mazloum, 22, of Sylvania, a brother of one of three terrorist suspects indicted last year; and cousins Zubair Ahmed, 27, and Khaleel Ahmed, 26, both of the Chicago area, were named in indictments that were unsealed today in U.S. District Court in Toledo. The indictments were handed up by a federal grand jury in Cleveland on Feb. 7.

The indictments are part of the federal government’s ongoing investigation into the suspected terrorist activities of three Toledo area men - Marwan Othman El-Hindi, Wassim Mazloum, and Mohammad Zaki Amawi, who were indicted last year. They are accused of conspiring to kill or injure people in the Middle East - including U.S. troops serving in Iraq - and providing the support and resources to do so. They are currently in federal prison in Milan, Mich., awaiting trial.

Mr. Zaim and Mr. El-Hindi are charged with fraud for allegedly submitting false documentation to obtain $40,000 in federal grant money, nearly all of which authorities believe was diverted for their own use. The grant was supposed to be used to conduct clinics for low-income taxpayers in Ohio and Michigan.

Mr. Mazloum, who is the brother of Wassim Mazloum, is charged with making false statements to authorities during the course of the federal investigation of his brother and his co-defendants.

In addition, the indictment files additional new conspiracy charges against Mr. Amawi and Mr. El-Hindi.

Mr. Amawi was charged with one count of distributing information about manufacturing explosive chemicals that he downloaded from the Internet for training purposes.

Mr. El-Hindi is charged with two counts of distributing information about the manufacture and use of explosives and one count of preparing and using a false document. That document was presented to the Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority in February, 2004, to secure Section 8 housing for himself and his family.

In addition, Mr. El-Hindi was also charged of theft of public funds with

    A clinic for what?

I tell you, these illegals and new immigrants or Visa workers, have found more ways to con our system and get money than we know about...I guess that's the difference in having a criminal mind and not having a criminal mind!
Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!
