Sounds like a lot of guilty illegals to me.
Exactly! Why "panic and resort to chaos" if your're here legally! Why would it be "unsafe" to pick up your child if you're here legally?

Sounds as if ICE has some more work to do at this school!
if i was a parent and i saw police cars at my childs school , i would if anything RUSH down to the school to collect my child and talk to the police about why they are down there and what's going on ...

About Hope of Detroit Charter School.
    About This School
Hope of Detroit Academy is located in Detroit, MI and is in Hope Of Detroit Academy School District.

It is a charter school that serves 45 students in grades 9-12.

Charter schools are public schools, but differ from traditional public schools in that they are independent and are operated by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, or others. Funding for charter schools is based on designated local or state educational organizations. Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system.

Hope of Detroit Academy did not make AYP in 2010. Under No Child Left Behind, a school makes Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) if it achieves the minimum levels of improvement determined by the state of Michigan in terms of student performance and other accountability measures. See Hope of Detroit Academy's test results to learn more about school performance.

In 2009, Hope of Detroit Academy had 17 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The Michigan average is 18 students per full-time equivalent teacher. Learn more about Hope of Detroit Academy's students and teachers. less

Charter schools are public schools. They are sometimes managed by a company instead of the local school district. Our funding from the state of Michigan is based upon our actual enrollment. There is a specific per-pupil foundation allocation, determined by how many students are in attendance.
We also actively pursue grants in aid from federal and state agencies, as well as from various private sources. Several Leona Group schools have received federal "E-Rate" grants for such necessities as network cabling, Internet service, and telephone charges both local and long distance. We also receive Title I, Title II and Title VI funding.
In an effort to keep our costs down, we intend to take advantage of the group buying power of REMC. They have substantial discounts for Michigan school districts and charter schools pre-negotiated with vendors. This will ensure that we receive the best prices for various technological needs.
As a further effort to control costs, we will be implementing school administration software that allows us to minimize the time required for reporting and maximize the information we receive out of our data. This will also allow preformatted output for the Michigan SRSD requirements.
Timeline and budget covering the acquisition, implementation, interoperability provisions, maintenance and professional development related to the use of technology to improve student academic achievement.
