She is half Irish and half Ecuadorean. Their are a lot of Americans with ethnic origins from Central and South America that do not want to be lumped into the Latino or Hispanic Communities.

As usual Navarette's articles are stupid. Navarette is poorly educated on a lot of things. To start off, the term Hispanic isn't a racial term. Not all Hispanics are mestizos like moron Ruben. Ruben fails to thoroughly acknowledge Black and White Hispanics in a lot of his articles. Cameron Diaz is often labeled a white Hispanic. Her Cuban father wasn't a mestizo. I believe Christina Aguilera's father also isn't a mestizo. Christina's father assimilated pretty well into American culture. He did serve in the military for several years. When it comes down to it, Cameron and Christina are very different from idiot Ruben mainly because their fathers assimilated into American culture and there were/are white men who became loyal to the country they lived in.

Hispanic is used to define anyone that comes from a Spanish speaking country. If we don't watch it I guess we will all be Hispanic.

Most of the illegals we get from Mexico are mestizo and it is interesting considering Mexico has third largest white population in South America.

The Mexican caste system puts the mestizo at the lowest end of the economic ladder. By encouraging illegal immigration to the US and remittances, Mexico has turned it's poverty into it's second largest income after oil at the expense of US taxpyers.
