Hi D:
Yes, Rockland County is just across the Tappan Zee....about 40 minutes from me straight as the crow flies.
I visited the other site link, and have requested access to the site, so hopefully will be online the very shortly.

I know this.
Every elected official with and email address has and automatic answering system in place that sends you a form letter.
Based on my own efforts, out of over 1500 emails sent out to elected officials, I am still waiting for even one of them to actually get back to me with a response.
What I have found somewhat usable, is the online FOIA requests you can make through various federal government agencies. Just last month I received a BIG NO from the NSA when I asked for information on the NSA spy scandal, and am waiting anxiously on my FOIA request to the White House asking for the pictures of Bush with Jack Abramoff.

03-18-2006, 03:34 PM #16My congressman personally responds to many e-mails but it may be that it is only because I am in his district. I don't often like much of anything he has to say, but he does respond. His latest responses have been more generic than in the past so I have a feeling I'm not the only one writing to him anymore.Based on my own efforts, out of over 1500 emails sent out to elected officials, I am still waiting for even one of them to actually get back to me with a response.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Hi PintoBean,
This may vary with elected officials; I've been told that handwritten correspondence usually gets opened and read by somebody (to include the envelope is handwritten).
Correspondence typed on a typewriter (no computer) might get opened and read,
and that
computer generated correspondence will probably be ignored.
I've been told that a handwritten postcard has the advantage of getting there faster as it doesn't have to be screened for contaminants in the envelope.
What part of "We don't owe our jobs to India" are you unable to understand, Senator?

American Links Operation: "Spotlight"
Turn up the heat, so they see the light!
[b]This is a call to all patriotic Americans to peacefully assemble to Stop the Guest Worker Program (AMNESTY):
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006 from 12 noon to 6pm at local Senate and Congressional offices across the Nation
We Americans will demand that our elected Senators and Congressmen immediately secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws.
We will show them up close and personal how mad we are!We will insist that they vocally and publicly oppose President Bush and Republican Party Leaders in their attempts to sell out America by attempting to shove a guest worker amnesty down our throats.
We will hold our Senators and Congressmen personally responsible for allowing any kind of guest worker amnesty to pass.
This is just the beginning. We must crank up the heat on the Senate and Congress now, before it is too late.
If you can't attend one of the protests below, please show your support by phoning or faxing.
We invite others to make this a national event!

patbrunz,
RE:How do you know this to be true? Or is this just your opinion?
When we sent e-mail's we usually got a programmed response.
Even if you didn't there and you were going to get a personal response there is no sense of urgency answering an e-mail. When the phone rings they must pick it up. When the fax is humming and spitting out paper they won't let it stack too high. When you or a few of you are out in the lobby wanting to speak to someone and asking them if you can videotape it they have to deal with that NOW. And if you are outside protesting, they can't ignore that.
The only time we have ever had any real communication with elected officials through e-mails is when an elected official gave one of my associates a different e-mail address other than the general one.

And might I add that faxes to your local congressmans office are often better than faxes to DC because at the local office they usually have the fax machines that spit out paper. However you can verify that for sure when you visit your local congressmans office. When the Minuteman were coming to our area in Sept. 2005 I personally went to my congressmans office to deliver the MM flyer and they said to me," Are you the one who keeps faxing us these flyers?"
