Why push health care - because there are three to four years of collecting taxes without having to pay benefits. Govt needs the cash for other programs. Is there anyone that believes that the funds collected during the first few years would be set aside for health care in the future? This will be just like the Social Security lockbox that isn't.

It is nothing but a diversion. The news focuses on healthcare rather than unemployment and that way they can also try to push amnesty. Who wants amnesty if there are no jobs for Americans already. Smoke and mirrors is all it is.

No, our corporate Americans DO NOT want to be doing that. Free Trade Treason, Immigration and Tax policy forces them to do that.
But if we restore protected trade policies, stop illegal immigration, reduce our excess legal immigration numbers and pass the FairTax, our companies will be forced economically by the numbers to bring those operations back to the United States because their choices are rather simple. Produce overseas, sell overseas. Produce in the US, sell in the US. There will still be hundreds of billions of dollars worth of international trade including imports into the US, but the amount will be managed, the trade deficit eliminated, and as some start to come back, more will follow back home just as they followed others over there to begin with, and when they do come back, they'll have federal trade protection that protects their operations here from unfair foreign competition, their profits will not only be larger, they'll be secure.
And when we change these policies and our corporations come home where they belong to serve the US market with largely US made products, our corporate Americans will be asking themselves why they spent $100,000 to $200,000 on higher educations that taught them otherwise and donated hundreds of billions of dollars to politicians whose only goal was to bankrupt the US and the companies they worked for.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

From what I understand there is nothing in the bill that benefits the people. In-fact the bill was written by the insurance companies and pharma's. Everything positive was taken out. In-fact, the one last remaining item which I thought was decent; was that you could not be turned down for pre-existing conditions. Well that was stripped out of the bill.
So basically all you have now is that everyone in the country must buy medical insurance and pay for it years before the actual program goes into place. If you don't buy it, you are going to jail. And the insurance companies will now have billions more that they can donate to Washington politicians. Oh when I say everyone in the country, don't forget that excludes union members and federal employees. If the bill is so damn good, why are they excluding themselves from it?
I think the boldness of this Congress' thievery was the final straw. People are beginning to wake up. Let's just hope they kick the bumbs out next election.

As long as we don't put new bums in. To replace of the bums that we the people will hopefully be smart enough to throw out.

Protectionism is the protected trade policies that built the greatest economic superpower the world has ever known and free trade treason policies have destroyed it. With protected trade policies we'll rise and restore our economy again. With free trade treason policies we will continue our dive to the bottom. It's not complicated. It's very simple. Protectionism isn't a "maybe, it will work", it's a tried and true policy and a mathematical economic certainty.
Yes, under protected trade policies, companies will pay more for labor, but they'll pay less in transportation and international management and they'll have more expendable income available to purchase their products. Yes, prices of goods may change a little, but not enough to forfeit the value of the jobs, investment, income and profit for Americans. Yes, there may be some grand-standing from disappointed trade partners, but they'll get over it and instead of using all their national resources and labor to produce for the US, they'll turn to using their national resources and labor to produce for themselves and their citizens. Yes, there will still be huge volumes of international trade between the US and other other countries, but yes, it will be balanced sensible trade where the money that goes out comes back in and both partners benefit from the trade relationship instead just one benefiting from the transactions.
So in 2010, make the choices clear.
1. If a candidate wants immigration reform instead of immigration enforcement including some perversion of trying meld the two, which is not the solution, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
2. If a candidate doesn't have the gumption to say our law requires that we deport illegal aliens and our support our rule of law, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
3. If a candidate whines that "we can't deport 12 million illegal aliens", when of course we can, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
4. If a candidate wails the ole National Council of La Raza spiel about "we're a nation of immigration", "we're all God's people", "illegal aliens do the jobs Americans won't do", "we can't deport because we don't know who they are, where they are or what they're doing", "we want to be a welcoming nation", and blah, blah, blah, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
5. If a candidate claims they oppose illegal immigration but supports more legal immigration, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
6. If a candidate wants to make it easier and faster for immigrants to enter the US, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
7. If a candidate supports "Free Trade" and doesn't want to return to Protectionism, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
8. If they bring up the Smoot-Hartley Act and an excuse to perpetuate "Free Trade", STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
9. If they bring up AgJOBS amnesty or any form of shamnesty or more guest worker permits, etc., STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
10. If they oppose the FairTax, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
11. If they support the Flat Tax or a VAT (Value-Added Tax) instead of the FairTax, STRIKE THEM FROM THE LIST.
12. If they don't know or haven't decided between the FairTax, Flat Tax or a VAT, then ask them why they haven't decided? And tell them, we need the FairTax and if they were fit to serve the people of the United States, they would already know that, because they would have already taken the time to study, learn and know that the FairTax is the tax solution to all tax collection issues in the US. The FairTax is not a solution to government spending issues, although by its natural course, the FairTax will reduce the number of people eligible for entitlements and poverty programs, because their net expendable income will be greater under the FairTax and they won't need the aid or qualify for it. And as our people have more expendable income and our businesses have more retained earnings under the FairTax, our economy will jump-start improving profits for employers and jobs, wages and benefits for our employees. Add protected trade policies to the FairTax, and our economy will soar, labor will be in high demand and wages and benefits will improve across the board, and those on entitlements and poverty programs will be moved off those programs into sustainable jobs with good benefits, significantly reducing government spending in these areas of our federal budget on unemployed and underemployed Americans who can't sustain themselves under our present trade, immigration and tax policies.
So keep it simple in 2010. Stay focused on the 3 top fixes we need.
1. stop illegal immigration
2. pass the FairTax
3. protect our trade
We can deal with items 4 and 5 of this 5 step plan after we have people in the US Congress and running our states who get the fact that their job is to represent the citizens of the United States and the best interest of our people and nation. Give all the other candidates and incumbents their walking papers back to their districts to look for a full-time job in the private sector off our dole. I'd like to send them to the back of a soup line for the years of treason and stupidity embedded in their disservice to the people of the United States and the harm they've caused our country, but I'll be happy with just getting them out of the Congress and State Governments for now so they cause no more harm to US.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

I think Republicans would be viewed for eternity as Heroes if they would consolidate the 3 small paragraphs that are 1 sentence each into 1 small paragraph of 3 sentences in a 1 page bill, add a small 2nd paragraph that provides some reasonable definitions and qualifiers and pass it when they have the votes to do so. Since the Democrats agree with this for the most part since they've already passed bills that have this provision in it, it could pass both Houses of Congress in 15 minutes, the time it takes to do an electronic vote. That 1 page bill resolves 90% of the horror stories for people with insurance who got dropped, who bought policies that were rescinded for some genetic marker or past history that is really no more of an immediate threat for illness than any number of other conditions insureds develop every day and are covered on, and pre-existing conditions that have been treated, cured or placed in remission. The current bills allow you to get cancer and walk in while you have it and purchase health insurance. I think that's a problem and leads to the desire for many to want mandated insurance, which I adamantly oppose.
I think we need to use the definitions and qualifiers provisions to discourage that, and set-up a separate solution for the "existing condition" under certain circumstances where charities handle those, separate from "pre-existing conditions" that are under control, in remission, have never flared or surfaced, or are chronic illnesses under control with medication and treatments and handled by private insurance companies.
What people need to face up to is that the reason most people don't have insurance is because they can't afford the policies. So what are the reasons most people have for not having insurance or separate means to pay for their own medical care? Joblessness and Unsustainable Wages and Income. What is the cause of that condition in our work force? Illegal Immigration, Free Trade Treason and Mandated Income-based tax policies. In order to solve the health insurance problem, we have to solve the Joblessness and Unsustainable Wages and Income problem.
Take the FairTax. That 1 simple beautiful legislation will do 2 things immediately:
1. increase the net expendable income of our households which for a typical median income household of 4, with 2 adults and 2 kids, earning between $50,000 and $60,000 a year will increase their net take home income by over $16,440 a year with the Monthly Rebate which greatly increases their ability to purchase a good basic health insurance policy if they don't have company paid health insurance at work.
2. increases the net retained earnings of employers who can't now afford to offer company paid health insurance as a company benefit either in whole or in part where the employee pays a portion, but under the FairTax could afford to offer it, and many would do just that.
If we stop illegal immigration and get all these people out of our country who aren't supposed to be here to begin with, unemployed Americans will get their jobs back and underemployed Americans will see their deflated wages increase and benefits improve, which now enables almost 12 million American workers to purchase insurance or get it at work.
If we protect our trade and bring our manufacturers back home where they belong, then there will be good jobs with good benefits available to millions more Americans who with the advantage of the FairTax will have more net expendable income and employers whose businesses are secure because they are protected enjoying greater retained earnings due to the FairTax than they've had in years. Now employees will have much greater job security, at better wages with better benefits with much higher net expendable income so they can either purchase their own with their own expendable income or work for a company that under the FairTax can afford to offer company paid health insurance.
Now with millions of jobs for Americans, those taken back from illegal aliens and those brought back through new protected trade policies, millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans on MediCaid, SCHIP, free school lunch, HUD housing, ADC, food stamps and so forth, won't be on those programs because they'll no longer qualify, and we automatically reduce government spending on those programs, which today, represent over 45% of every dime paid to the IRS in individual income taxes. That's right, 45 cents out of every dollar of personal income tax paid by US taxpayers goes to supporting those who can't support themselves due to lack of jobs and sustainable wages. It's over $500 billion a year that we spend on these programs, more than what we spend on Defense, not counting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And that's just on the federal level and doesn't count the additional hundreds of billions states, local communities and charities spend on these people.
Bring the jobs home from other countries, take the jobs back from illegal aliens, and put America back to work. It's not only the right thing to do for our people suffering in poverty, it's the right thing to do for all the Americans who are underwriting it.
Stop the Stupidity that's bankrupting the US through unemployment, underemployment, free trade treason and a tax collection system that's proven itself a destructive failure on all counts.
Then 90% of the problems people are having with the affordability of health insurance will evaporate almost over-night. The rest will be addressed by repealing the McCarran-Ferguson Act exemption to the Sherman-Anti-Trust Act that exempts the entire insurance industry from our anti-trust laws which would open up interstate competition and federal trade regulation of the entire insurance industry. We'll not only see declines in the cost of health insurance, we'll see declines in the cost of home and auto insurance as well.

I thought the 1 trillion, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, that obama and his cronies rammed through Congress was supposed to be about preserving and creating jobs and promoting economic recovery!
This is what obama claimed when he was trying to sell it to the nation. So what happened?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
