WILLIAM: A Note on Obama and MLK Robbing the Dead!
Friends,
I just wanted to express some observations about Presidential candidate Barrack Obama.
I have spent a lot of time with candidates over the last fifteen years in my prior work as a campaign consultant. I have written speeches for myself and others. I have studied the greats and their presentation styles like Churchill, MLK, Kennedy, and others.
I really wish audio recording was more available back when Teddy Roosevelt did his speeches, I'd really like to hear his presentation style.
Each time I hear a new speech by Obama, it is becoming more and more apparent to me that he is intentionally imitating Martin Luther King's public speaking style.
He has adopted the mannerisms and nuances of King's inflection, pauses, pronunciations, and undulations.
I do not know if this is an old trick of his, or if he has practiced this method for the Presidential campaign.
If you listen to the speeches of Martin Luther King and then watch how Obama will speak and pause Obama is almost exact replication of the MLK style.
He will accent strong points in his speech by raising his voice and pitch in a way similar to the famous "Thank God Almighty Free At Last" part of MLK's 'Dream' speech.
In fact, Obama's rendition of MLK is becoming so overt (in my mind) I find it growingly offensive that he is mimicking a dead historical figure like MLK.
The situation in 2007 is nothing like the situation in the 1960's!
Obama should seek his own style instead of becoming a linguistic ghoul eager to rob the dead for political gain!

He gets away with this because many of the new voters are
to young to remember or have never heard a speech by Dr King
Its very hard to copy a "style" I would assume its intentional
and practiced and I have noticed the similarities also

I have a lot of practice at this and know the situation having
played in cover bands where you want to sound like someone
and I've also played in original bands where you don't want to
sound like somebody
Just fyi , playing in a cover band is harder
You also can't hide a Van Halen or Jimmy Page lick in
an original song , you get caught every time
Same with Obama ,

I have listened to him very little. I guess now I am curious and want to hear him and see. Though I do trust your judgement on this William, but now...I am terribly curious.
Could be that he is attemtping to get voters who do remember and would find it a "fond" thing that he reminds them of MLK, and for the younger ones, to be told that he speaks like him, it would be strong point for votes as well."In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, For then it costs nothing to be a Patriot." I have noticed Obama doing this, too. I think it's intended to get more of the black vote.
RIP TinybobIdaho -- May God smile upon you in his domain forevermore.

I wore my hair similar to at least one of those.
In regards to observations of Obama:
The pausing and the positioning of the body when speaking has caught my eye. I was not aware of this comparison however. Very interesting if purposed and practiced and obviously powerful.
Ephesians 4:32Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
