The Treasonous 13 Republican Senators Who Voted for the HIRE Bill

Below are the names of the 13 Senators who voted for the "HIRE Bill" (S. Amdt. 3310 to R.R. 2847) 02/24/10.

This bill provides:

1) An exemption from payroll taxes for employers who hire new employees in 2010; and
2) A $1,000 tax credit for employers who keep those employees for 52 weeks.

There is NO provision that new employees hired must be either U.S. citizens or foreign nationals legally documented to work in the United States for employers to qualify for these tax exemptions or credits! Use of E-Verify is NOT required, although a large amount of these funds evidently will go to finance construction, a primary employer of illegal aliens workers throughout the United States.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) was co-author together with Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) of the payroll tax provision of the bill.

"The bill will head to the House for its approval of the Senate version.

The Senate is expected to begin work on a much larger jobs package next week, and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Jeff Sessions and seven other Senators have already expressed their desire to include immigration related provisions in that bill."

Please call, fax, email, and/or write these thirteen Republican senators about their betrayal of U.S. citizen and legal permanent resident taxpayers by failing to require that proof of U.S. citizenship and/or legal U.S. employment documentation--checked through the federal E-Verify system--be required for employers to qualify for U.S. taxpayer funds under the HIRE Bill!
