World's most murderous cities includes 4 in United States, 4 on U.S.-Mexico border

- A study by Mexican civil rights organization Seguridad, Justicia y Paz ranked the 50 most violent cities in the world, based on the rate of homicides to population during 2014. Here are the 10 Mexican cities that made the list, ranked from least to most violent.
Dozens of the most violent cities in the world are located in the Americas, according to a new report released by a Mexican civil rights organization.
The report, which ranked the 50 most murderous cities based on the rate of homicides to population during 2014, includes 47 cities in the Americas, four of which are located in the United States and another four on the U.S.-Mexico border.

The organization, Seguridad, Justicia y Paz, concluded that the most murderous city in the world is San Pedro Sula in Honduras, with a rate of 171.20 murders per 100,000 residents.
U.S. cities that made the list include St. Louis, Detroit, New Orleans and Baltimore.
St. Louis’ rank jumped from 45 in 2013 to 19 in 2014, making it the city with the highest increase in homicide rates. In 2013, St. Louis had 34.14 homicides per 100,000 residents, and the following year, the city had 49.93 homicides per 100,000.
Detroit, New Orleans and Baltimore ranked at 22, 28 and 40, respectively, with a homicide rate of 44.87, 39.61 and 33.92 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Ten Mexican cities were listed, but Brazil topped all countries with 19 most violent cities.
Mexican cities include the border towns of Juarez, which jumped 10 spots since 2013, and Nuevo Laredo.
