On loving beans....
Oh Fly:
Old country boy here myself....seriously, is there ANYTHING better than a pot of string beans and hamhocks? Let's not forget a generous slice of cornbread with a HUGE pat of homemade butter either, cholesterol be damned.

William and Pintobean, thanks for the excellent responses to that ridiculous email.
In case if anyone here is confused, I'll clear up a few things.
1. We did NOT demonstrate at the multicultural event. The building it was held in is one of the busiest on campus. It contains a food area, multiple offices, a coffee/lounge area, and a multitude of other things. We reserved a table in the breezeway just inside the place and handed out flyers. They contained web links one could go to if they were interested in researching the issue of illegal immigration (sites like CIS.org, FAIR, and numbersUSA). The multicultural event was upstairs and we were not in the way of anyone wishing to go there. We never stated any opposition to the event whatsoever.
2. The claim that we couldn't get more than two members is false. When we turned in our form for temorary registration, the names of both Danielle and I were included along with our addresses, phone, etc... The only people we were going to list on that sheet are execs, and since it was just us at that time, only our names are on there. Now, Drake does not require you to submit a list of members at any point. People seem to be misconstruing the information on that registration sheet to imply we don't have the required four members (which we do). Never at any point were we asked about our membership, people are just assuming that we don't have any.
3. I have never made any racist comments toward mexicans or muslims. My facebook profile has numerous quotes about illegal immigration from J.D. Hayworth, Tom Tancredo, and Charles Krauthammer. My profile also contains comments about the rediculousness of the cartoon protests around the world. I doubt most people would disagree with me in saying they are out line.
4. Patrick Rynard believes we choose fear over facts. Yeah, clearly thats what I did when I picked facts from reputable studies and posted them nearly word for word on a poster
This is not the first time Patrick Rynard has stretched the facts on issues. He usually has a poltical column in the monday edition of the Times Delphic. I've largely stopped reading them because quite frankly they are poor in quality. He strongly plays the "Dems = Good, Republicans/Conservatives = Bad, racist, etc." line on a regular basis. When he came to talk to us at our booth, he never once discussed the facts we presented or anything similar. I could go on but he's seriously not worth our time. I personally feel that most students write him off as "too far out there" anyways.
Well, I've got some work done on the website and it should still be up by the end of this week.
Right now we're just trying to get this whole faculty advisor situation fixed. I've got mixed feelings about the way the school has been handling this part, but I think we'll be fine getting someone. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Hey Blueman, how would you feel about helping ALIPAC by launching our student wing operations? You could do what you are doing, but we would encompass your efforts under the ALIPAC banner to reach out to more college student.
The recent polling point findings show us that the college aged Americans are still uninformed about this crisis.

William,
For the time being I'll probably have to respectfully deny that offer, but thats only because things are so hectic right now. I definetly want to expand this and try to start groups at other colleges, but most of our time right now is being spent on what we're doing at Drake.
ALIPAC's student wing operation does sound interesting. I definetly would like to hear more about what you're wanting to do.
Don't count me out with any involvement though, I'll be able to give you a much better idea of what I can do and where I'm at after the next few weeks are over.

Excellent Idea!
Alipac....GREAT IDEA, and I think a wonderful chance for Blueman as it would give him a GREAT feather in his resume being associated with a serious organization.
As to the issues at hand...Frank, we all see this fellow for who he is. First, I've written a letter (posted here) to the school paper and recieve no response at all. I've written a response directly to this person, and he has not responded as well...so, decided to go take a look at his website for the organization he professes to be the president of. Nothing of any real importance was found on the page, and more importantly, not so much as a PEEP about this situation. Would seem to me, that if he college organization was so incensed about this, verse he himself for whatever reason, one would assume there would be news of it on their webpage?
As to the issue of the cartoons concerning Allah...I ran them on my own political blog...in fact, had the full page of cartoons as it appeared in the paper on my blog with my own thoughts on the issue. Basically, my slant is this....cartoonist based their creative ideas on the amunition that is given them...if the so called moderate Muslims would take the step necessary to clean their own houses (mosques) and rein in the antics of these supposed radical fringes, there would be no reason for cartoonists to create such images. Furthermore, how do you compare 12 cartoons that some considered bad taste to the terrorists bombings of the London subways, the destruction in Spain, or the flying of planes into our own World Trade Centers here in New York.
The Worldwide Muslim community needs to begin addressing their own image, and rioting and killing people over cartoons did nothing to improve and already greatly negative image of them.

Blueman,
We would create a section on our site for the campus fliers, adjust them a bit, place the ALIPAC disclaimer on them, and then start creating college chapters.
This would make you the head of our student wing and your job would be to reach out to other students around the country via email and forums to get more students across the nation putting out fliers on campus.
We would give you a page for messaging and flier storage and an ALIPAC e-mail account and a position title.
Once the fliers were refined a bit, you could get your work out across the nation quickly and we could use our national email list to tap the college students that are already on board with us to get you a head start.

I think it's important to target colleges about the issue of illegal immigration b/c lets face it, what, if any, do schools teach them about the subject? I know I don't remember anything taught about illegal immigration, only that I knew the definition of term.
I wish this subject would be so impressed upon colleges around the country that they start discussing it in classrooms. I know they discuss cultural type subjects relating to ethnicities and races of people. You got sex ed classes. So why not some illegal immigration classes? Think about it, illegals account for about 7-8% of our population, not a insiginificant problem at all.

Truism,
You are right. We need to reach into the INSTITUTIONS and start waking up some young minds as soon as possible. What Blueman has just done is illustrate the screaming and hollerin that takes place when a little bit of cold water is splashed around in the brain incumbators of the Ivory Towers.

Also Blueman, we have the ability to launch this effort nationally via national press release and we could get you on many radio shows to spread the word. Possible some national articles as well.
We could use the polling point observations as our explanation for the effort.
