TUCSON, AZ -- Authorities are seeking comments on a proposal to put drinking water stations in southern Arizona's Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge to prevent migrant deaths.
It's an effort to resolve a dispute between refuge officials and humanitarian groups that have left gallon-jugs of water on trails illegal immigrant use southwest of Tucson.
Refuge manager Michael Hawkes tells the Arizona Daily Star that officials tried to reach a happy medium.
No More Deaths co-founder Gene Lefebvre says refuge staffers and representatives of humanitarian organizations have been working on how to position water stations to cause as little impact as possible to sensitive wildlife.
Over the past two years, volunteers from No More Deaths, Samaritans and Humane Borders have received littering tickets for placing water jugs on the refuge.

That would be called aiding and abetting.

Water stations send the wrong message. They say "Cross illegally"
There should be no water stations.

Its fine with me as long as a motion detector with video alerts the BP to the IA's presence at the water station.
If the IA's are in a dire situation and need water then the trade off should be water then deportation."A Government big enough to give you everything you want,is strong enough to take everything you have"* Thomas Jefferson

Who are the idiots behind these water stations? While they think they are helping, they are aiding the invasion of our country. NO WATER STATIONS!!!

They should not be doing anything to help the aliens come here illegally, but they could put water stations on all the trails that they use if there was a way to catch and deport them when they stop there.
No Amnesty! An average of 25 Americans are killed every day by illegal alien criminals that have no right to be here.

I am the president of Water Station, a group in California who places emergency water on wilderness roads and migrant trails. There are a couple of things I would like to clarify. First, our actions do not constitute aiding and abetting, as those have to involve transporting or harboring undocumented people or providing them with employment assistance. We do not take any position on border legislation, primarily because we are a 501(c)3 and have restrictions on political involvement, but secondly because we have differing opinions among our volunteers.
Our only mission is to save lives.
We have licenses from the Bureau of Land Management and the superintendent of the state park that comprises some of the area in which we work. We cooperate with the U.S. Border Patrol; in fact, I had a meeting last month with the Chief Patrol Agent of the El Centro sector and we agreed to a cooperation plan. I have also met with Alan Bersin, Asst. DHS Secretary.
I have always been fond of vibrant debate on important issues and I am pleased to have the opportunity to offer my unique perspective. Please be thoughtful, though -- remember that you are dealing not just with violations of status laws, but with people's lives.
Thanks

you might not think you are aiding and abetting, but in all reality you are.
its against the law to help or harbor anyone entering or residing in this country illegally.
i would like to see the license you have from the Land management because in arizona the same thing happened in the desert and those people were charged and found guilty of doing the same thing as you claim your doing now.
