LOS ANGELES – Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who represents Aztlan on the City Council, has asked U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to quit raiding businesses to find illegal aliens.

Instead, he said, the federal government should concentrate on sanctioning businesses that mistreat workers.

"So-called 'illegals' deserve the same wage-and-hour protections as other workers," he said, adding that work-site raids can have "severe and long-lasting effects" on the local economy.

"Look," said the mayor, "the documentation that some undocumented workers present to employers looks legitimate, so businesses can't tell if they're hiring somebody who is technically 'illegal' or not. As a matter of fact, the documentation of these undocumented workers often looks better than the real thing.

"Phony drivers' licenses, for example, frequently have photos that don't look like post postmortems, and Social Security cards don't look like they've been through the wash three or four times."

Concluding with his traditional "Viva la Raza!" Villaraigosa argued that the counterfeit documents were actually better than real documents and said he hoped the state legislature would declare the counterfeits as good as legitimate papers.

Westland/Hallmark Meat Packing Co. was CAUGHT slaughtering downer cows and treating the cows in cruel and inhumane manners. This slaughter company employeed illegal aliens. It lead to the largest recall of 143 million pounds of frozen beef in history. The provided meat went to school lunch programs and much of the meat was consumed before the recall. Mad cow disease can incubate up to 30 years.

Is this an example of the jobs and illegals Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa proposes to protect at the expense of the safety of our food supply and our health? Does he condone cruel treatment of animals?

Villaraigosa wants the state legislature to accept counterfeit documents as legal because the quality is better than the real document. HAS HE NOT HEARD OF FRAUD? LEGALITY IS THE ISSUE, NOT THE QUALITY OF THE COUNTERFEITS! Is this man mentally competent?

He is suppose to be the mayor of Los Angeles, California. Isn't his "Viva la Raza" cry TREASON AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

We need a parliamentary system like the UK, so we can get rid of bad "leaders" like Villar (actually, I don't know if parliaments can get rid of low level leaders) and Jorge Bush.

We are a seriously screwed up system to put this guy in power in the first place and to let him stay there in the second.

He didn't conclude "Viva la Raza!", did he really? If he did what are we waiting for he should be forced to explain what that means. Expose him!

Illegals deserve NADA!

Can't punish the employers if that papers look that good, can you Villar? MORE raids are needed to punish the real criminals, the illegal aliens who KNOW the documents are stolen!

He is not delusional. He is a leading the battle -- and winning. Those who vote for him are either delusional or part of his charge.
