    Democrats feeling angst over 2010

Keep the pressure on, Schumer still wants to push amnesty.

    Democrats feeling angst over 2010
By Alexander Bolton - 11/04/09 06:00 AM ET

Vulnerable House and Senate Democrats want their leaders to skip the party’s controversial legislative agenda for next year to help save their seats in Congress.

In the run-up to the 2010 midterm elections, they don’t want to be forced to vote on climate change, immigration reform and gays in the military, which they say should be set aside so Congress can focus on jobs and the economy.

“It’s hard; the most important issue in front of us is the economy right now, and that’s where most of us really want to stay focused, the economy and jobs, that’s what our constituency is concerned about,â€

John Cornyn of Texas still wants it, too. I called his office to complain about Mexican citizens calling our Congressional offices, en masse, and they told me to take it up with my own Senators.

What are these guys going to do? Open a permanent office for Mexico's Foreign Secretary next to theirs? We need to keep compaining about the SEIU, their central roles in the Obama administration and their point man with BOTH Mexico and Venezuela, Eliseo Medina.

    They better be scared.

Did anyone see the climate change committee hearings on c-span yesterday?

The Repulicans boycotted it, only Democrats were there and Boxer was pissed along with the rest of the Dems! One Republican came in made a 15 min. speech on how the meetings were run and then got up and left

It was great! and about time!

They don't listen to the Republicans, don't allow them amendments or vote them all down, so why bother going! This really made Boxer look bad

Way to go Republicans!!! Let the Dems own the piece of crap they are pushing on us.

[b]Rep. Bob Etheridge (D), a centrist contemplating a run for Senate in North Carolina, helped Democratic leaders in the summer by voting for climate change legislation on the House floor.

He now wants Democratic leaders to narrow their focus on jobs and the economy.

“Three things ought to be the top priority: jobs, jobs and jobs,â€

Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), vice chairman of the Senate Democratic Conference, still wants to take up immigration reform next year. He told reporters Tuesday that it is still on the agenda for the 111th Congress. (Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has called immigration reform his No. 3 priority after healthcare reform and global climate change legislation.)

The only "reform" I want to see is one that provides that prospective immigrants:

    1) Apply just like all other legal immigrants did.
    2) Prove that they can read, write and comprehend the English Language and understand the laws of the United States.
    3) Undergo extensive criminal background checks, locally and internationally. ANY crime = immigration request denied. We have enough crime here.
    4) Undergo extensive "vetting" so that the American Citizens are not subjected to any communicable diseases.
    5) Prove that they have either a job waiting for them when they get here or a sponsor who will agree to provide financially for all needs (housing, food, medical, etc.) so that they are not a financial burden on the Federal government or the State that they emmigrate to.
    6) An end to the practice of automatic citizenship by birthright to children born of illegal aliens. (Anchor-babies.)

That is reform (change) that I can live with.
