    Illegal immigration lowest since 2003

Mexicans drop while India, China and Honduras see big surges

By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - Thursday, February 22, 2018

Illegal immigration from Mexico has fallen dramatically this decade, sending the overall population of unauthorized people in the U.S. tumbling below the 11 million mark, according to a new think tank study released Thursday.

As of 2016 the illegal immigrant population stood at 10,790,000 — down from 11,725,000 in 2010, the Center for Migration Studies said. It’s the lowest level since 2003, CMS said.

While there were changes among the populations from myriad countries, the nearly 1 million decline can be attributed chiefly to Mexico, whose unauthorized population in the U.S. fell from 6.6 million down to 5.7 million.

Illegal immigration from Central America has risen, with 100,000 new unauthorized Hondurans and 50,000 Guatemalans. Illegal immigration from India is also up substantially, from 365,000 to 475,000, while Chinese illegal immigrants grew from 295,000 to 380,000.

But those were countered by drops from South Korea, Colombia, Ecuador, Pero and Poland, the new report concludes.

“The evidence of a widespread and sustained decline in undocumented migration to the United States is irrefutable,” the report says.

Center for Immigration Studies claims there's less than 11 million illegal aliens in the US? Are they not counting visa-overstays? Are they not counting the illegal aliens in DACA, TPS and UAC? There's over 30 million illegal aliens in the US. There were 20 million or more in 2005, and they've been pouring in ever since.

Sigh. I don't think CIS information starts from the right gate. They are way behind the curve on their baseline, by about 20 million illegal aliens.

    U. S. births to illegals, as opposed to immigration , have been responsible for most of the increase in this population for a number of years . Birthright citizenship is the elephant in the room, as it is responsible for much of the costs associated with illegal immigration , and contributes to the rising leftist youth voting block.
Any count of illegals in this country should include the multitudes of anchor babies!

This is hard to believe. Especially with all this amnesty talk which is probably drawing millions more like a big giant magnet.

I believe it's gone down. It's just not gone down from 11,000,000 to 10 million something. It's gone down from 30,000,000 to 29 million something.

It's so true, European Knight. As time moves along, more and more Americans will come to realize Donald Trump and the citizens who voted for him saved the United States.

It's announced today that weekly jobless claims have dropped to a near 45 year low.

You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If the unemployment rate drops too low, there will be less interest in reducing immigration. Actually, the talks of increasing worker visas will resume in full force and the pressure against deporting the so-called hard working illegals will increase. Honestly, it's a never ending cycle and the unemployment rate plays a crucial part in it.

Knowledgeable people know that there is plenty of labor in the US even when our unemployment rate is low, because of all the discouraged and underemployed workers that the unemployment rate doesn't include. That's why the demand is for skills training. There will always be these moronic traitors calling for more immigration, they were calling for more immigration when the unemployment rate was 10% in late 2009.
