It was the marching and the Cinco De Mayo displays in American stores that brought me to ALIPAC. Why on earth would American's be celebrating Mexican independence day? We have our own day to celebrate.

May 1st is not Mexican Independence day, May 1st is a Communist holiday.

May 5th is not Mexican Independence day either, it commemorates the day the Mexican army actually won a battle. In this case it was against the French, although Mexico ended up losing that war. It is not even a holiday in Mexico, I think here in the US it is American beer companies that promote it.

Mexican Independence day is September 16th.

Bowman, you are correct. And yes, they do not even celebrate this in Mexico.

I remember John and Ken running a campaign to boycott celebrating Cinco de Mayo in 2006. Many listeners followed.

    Main article: International Workers' Day
May Day, also refers to various socialist and labor movement celebrations conducted on May 1, to commemorate the Haymarket martyrs of 1886 and the international socialist social movement generally. May Day in this regard is called International Workers' Day or Labour Day, and is a commemoration of the execution of the men who were arrested after the Haymarket Riot of 1886 in Chicago, Illinois, which occurred on May 4 but was the culmination of labor unrest that had begun on May 1. Consequently this May Day became established as an anarchist and socialist holiday, and in this form, May Day has become an international celebration of the social and economic achievements of the working class and labor movement. Although May Day observance began in the United States, it is not officially nor popularly recognized as a holiday there; instead May 1 was officially designated by the U.S. Congress as Loyalty Day in 1958, because of the association of May Day with communism.[4]

The OBL Mayday march can be turned to our advantage by our having a visible presence at their event. I can see carrying a sign at the hea of the march saying

    OPPOSE THIS MARCH?

May 5th marks the victory of the Mexicans over the French at the Battle of Puebla. It was closely associated with the followers of the political Benito Juarez and Porfirio Diaz. It was celebrated here in the USA by the Mexican Consulates even though May 5th did not have a cross party appeal.

May 1st marks the success of collective labor union action in obtaining the 8 hour work day in the United States. It is not really a Communist thing though it was part of the official holidays in the Communst countries.

Your 110 days were up 300 days ago, why haven't you taken it to the streets USA Latino? Or are you referring to your pathetic May Day protest last year?
Bowman, can you please stop making me laugh? I spit up my drink on that one.
